I ordered a Cayenne S at Auto Gallery in the month of August. They said 90 days max. After waiting 5 months, I received the call yesterday that the car has arrived. I go down there and the only right option was the exterior color. Rims were wrong, interior color, wrong. Inside options, wrong.
What can I do? do I call Porsche NA to complain?
    Has this happened to anyone?

It's hard to say if that was even the car you ordered. It sounds like the old "bait and switch technique." You can call Porsche NA but they most likely won't do anything. Call Eric Schwartz at the Auto Gallery- he is the head guy there.

He is the one that ordered the car. The car is not even close to what I ordered.

I would think that the area manufacturers rep would step up and make things more to your liking in a quick way. I have dealt with Porsche customer commitment for several of my Porsche clients and have had fairly good success in getting resolution on a number of things.

The dealerships however are only as good as their own management, and really several that I have worked with fail beyond reproach. But Porsche commitment is a much better situation. Get them involved. You can start by calling 1.800.PORSCHE and work down the line. I have several Midwest contacts that could direct you internally if you need them.

That stinks. Complain like hell from bottom to top of Porsche. If you accept car, you are legally saying it's ok and honoring the deal. (Wife is a lawyer).

I've worked for several high line dealers and all you can do is get your deposit back, file a complaint, and go somewhere else. You can share your experience with other people to prevent them having a similar experience. I really have no idea how that's possible btw, unless they forgot to place your order or lost your order sheet and tried to guess. I worked 3 different dealers over 4 years and not once did we have a car show that was not what the client ordered. I always made sure to make them sign a sheet with the specs along with a receipt of their deposit. When I enter the specs into the portal I just go off the sheet. Maybe your car arrived on time and he sold your car to someone else. There are so many possibilities here.

If I were you I'd take a diplomatic approach with the order taker and explain your disappointment. He can make it right by finding you a car ASAP that matches your requirements (dealer trade or buy wholesale from another dealer) or he can loose your business forever. Porsche dealers are a dime a dozen in this country. ;)

Also, a lot of dealers don't like yelp or public forums. So maybe write a review about your experience in more places till you get their attention.

I've been in legal battle with a chop shop in LA since April and I finally (last week) got a signed settlement after having to air their dirty laundry on relevant forums. I didn't want to take that route, but they would only respond to me or my attorney when I would post photos or invoices from their shop. I guess it depends on what it's worth to you. Some people are stupid and will play hardball anyway and it could be a total waste of energy.

Refuse the car. Demand every penny of your deposit back. Decide for yourself it is worth re-ordering through them again.

I would be so pissed. They should refund your money and lend you a Cayenne until yours arrive.

I gotta love placing a deposit with a dealer. Most often everything works out great! In the event that it doesn't you need to fight to get it back! I also enjoy the fact that they use your money and you don't receive any interest. So you figure 100 $5,000 deposits = $500,000 interest free loan. Not too shabby

    Thanks everyone for the responds.
AutoGallery was helpful and understanding regarding the issue. Eric Schwartz (manager) and Mike Medina (sales) were sympathetic and very accommodating to resolve this mishap.
    thanks

Glad to hear. What did they do?

This could be true. But there is a point well in advance were you get an actual VIN# of the car you ordered. So I am not sure how they can just switch it. But yes, many people may not know this and so bait and switches CAN happen.
