I am not a fan of the f1 season ending several races before the end.

Why would it be a bad idea to have a playoff like in most worldwide sports so that you had a regular season, playoff and single final race?

You could rotate the last final race year to year. I’d think ratings and revenue would go up.

That's an interesting proposition. I liked when Abu Dhabi had double points. Now, what if they had a series of say 3 sprint races at the final race? Qualifying and top 6 cars go for an all out, balls to the walls 15 lap race. DRS is permanently on. Practice, quali and race on each day. Yes, I'm nuts.

There is a World Series, Stanley Cup, Super Bowl, NBA Finals

World Cup soccer doesn’t end a few games early...

I’m not sure I get NASCAR with their Super Bowl (Daytona 500) at the beginning of their season...

But I’d love to see maybe the top 4 teams from the main season driving alone in the last races starting fresh - winner takes all.

As a completely separate non-championship event like they did in the old days sure.

In the current Nascar format, you can win 35 out of 36 races and still lose the championship - that to me is obscene.
I dislike this type of manufactured drama - a close championship fight only has real meaning if it happens naturally.
I'd prefer a bit less emphasis on the championship to be honest, and more attention on winning individual races...

Gimmicks don't work...at all. Every race series that has substituted gimmicks for real racing has done nothing but drive fans away.

The idea is ridiculous and boring IMHO.

Compare MLS soccer to Premier League. The MLS regular season is meaningless, the quality of the game is crap. That’s in large part because of a playoff system, which rewards mediocrity.

Premier League comes down to last game if the season, and it’s utterly brilliant. Watch teams battle to NOT get relegated and you will see the best soccer you’ve ever seen in your life.

Playoffs are a sure fire way to kill your product.
I stopped watching NHRA due to it, and outside of baseball, the concept is insane to me.

    I couldn't agree more.

When the competition is orchestrated with the sole purpose to keep bums on seat up to the last event, and not to crown the most deserving driver all year long, then you know it's a massive fraud.

I wouldn't follow a sport that cheats on its public; it would have no interest to me.

I hope Liberty which is US based will not bring to F1 these ridiculous rules to mimic NASCAR

Incidently, since Liberty bought F1 rights, it hasn't stopped making reference to NASCAR, and that's a worry.
