What car would you be really embarrassed to drive?

For me, cheap cars are not the least embarrassing. I could drive a Civic or a Focus, even a beat up one and suffer no embarrassment. An old dented pick-up? Drive that twice a week. A crappy minivan? I wouldn't care.

What would embarrass me would be showy pretentious cars like Lincolns, Cadillacs or most anything with a vinyl top or a gold kit.

Even nice high end cars would embarrass me a bit like a big Mercedes. I'd be mortified in a Bentley or Rolls.

I have an 01 civic. Not the least bit embarrassed to drive it either. She's my baby, i take care of her and she takes care of me. Most people in my town get a nice car from their rents and that's it. I paid for mine on my own, without any assistance from my parents and in 1/4 of the alotted time of my loan. It's a great car, i've thought about it too, and all things considered the civic is probably the best purchase for the money of any car. Quality, decent styling, etc. I won't talk about power though. I would be embarrassed in an old hyundai, any kia or daewoo. That would be embarrassing.

Pink Miata or VW Beetle. Any car with an idle problem.

The story goes like this... A burly hispanic purchased a Miata from someone in So Cal a year or two ago from a woman who was a friend of a friend that had SMLPCKG on the license place. It wasn't pink, but I wouldn't be caught dead in that car!

For me, cheap cars aren't a problem either. I've driven quite a few of those. It's cars that have lots of "bling". I just can't see the point of taking a beautiful car (like a Ferrari) and putting 24" hyper-chromed wheels or a huge spoiler on it. Also, anything with a stereo louder than a 747 would embarass the hell out of me. I say keep the cars stock (or at most, modify to the bare minimum).

Oh yeah, a Columbo engine that throws a huge smoke screen at a stop light would get a quick appt at the valve stem wizard.

Do they use those Lambo tractors in Hawaii? Seems I've seen something similar, can't quite recall...

An Escalade in Pearlescent White or H2 with chrome 22" dubs, even some of the new 4 door gangster looking Chryslers with the Barchetta take off front grill with dubs or any car for that matter with them, these cars scream bling to me.

Any version of the Hummer would be embarrasing as a driver. So would a Lincoln Navigator or a big Caddy SUV, followed by BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche SUV's. Then the sedan versions of all thes cars.

Nondescript but nice cars are good for daily drivers. 4 door '96 Mercury grand marquis, light metallic blue, used to be my father in law's car, and silver '99 Toyota 4Runner.

I do like the new Chrysler Corp. big 4 door sedans and also Lincon Continental.

Well, that's easy. This one's the most ridiculous, pretentious, pimped-out, and over-cooked looking thing I can imagine:

It would take a lot to phase me. I have an 89 Nissan Pickup as a beater. The car is a total POS.. the horn doesnt work, the brights dont work, no A/C, flattened seats, etc. I purposely didn't wash it for over a year. It was filthy, and I loved it. I just squeegied the windows every month or two when I got gas. It's nice having a car you don't care about. I agree though... the obnoxious cars would embarass me - lowriders, ricers, and huge raised trucks/SUVs. Otherwise, no biggie.

Ok, i dont know if i'm the only one but you are seriously getting annoying w/ that picture. We understand you can't stand the car or rims. Fine, but it wasn't created to look good and change automotive design. It's function is more important than its form. The only thing wrong w/ that picture is that West Coast put on a bad selection of rims. Enough is Enough.

All cars have something embarassing/not cool about their image.

    Civic-ultra common, potential ricer
    Minivan-mommy's car
    BMW-little rich kid
    Subaru WRX-slightly less rich kid
    Beat up truck- farmer
    Lifted truck - Redneck
Clean truck - city yuppie that doesn't get what 4x4 means
    Bentley-pretentious pricks
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    .
    etc

In this regard, the cars I would feel perfectly adequate in would be those people wonder what they are. Like, say ... a Morgan, for example.

This being said, I'd drive anything. People can drive whatever pleases them too. It may just not be cool, but as NNO said, sure beats walking.

I've never admitted this to anyone, but the first time I ever saw a Kia Sorento, I saw it from a distance and didn't know what it was, but I liked it... a few minutes later I was sitting behind one in heavy traffic, realized it was a Kia that I had seen earlier, and debated with myself for many stop-and-go miles over whether or not I could get away with debadging it so nobody would know I had bought a Kia... :)

I ultimately decided that it looked to much like a soccer mom RX300 anyway.

I've got all of you beat- I had a '76 AMC pacer- Copper with red faux leather interior, and aztec "inspired" seat inserts. To change lanes, you had to turn the wheel almost 360 degrees. This car was the inspiration for the term "SH1TBOX".

Now, I own 2 F-cars!! Unfortunately, they are both Fords... :(
