There are a few Italian cars I'd like to bring to the USA, which are not officially homologated. I wonder if they would qualify under the so-called "Bill Gates" exemption law?

Or is there any other way that the most modern cars (such as the Fiat 500) could actually become fully legal (they now meet emissions regs that are as strict as California's).

    I'm thinking of:

    1992/1993 Lancia Delta Integrale EVO2
    1990/1992 Alfa Romeo SZ/RZ
    2008 Fiat 500
    2005/2008 Alfa Romeo GT 3.2V6
    2003/2005 Alfa Romeo Spider 3.2V6
    1998/2001 Maserati 3200 GT.

Nice link! Well, the good part is that no Alfas, Maseratis, Lancias or Fiats are currently in the "black list". The bad part is that it takes a lot of paperwork to do a new application, and it may always fail.

What about the limitations to use? Can the cars be driven on the road at all?

You should talk to Reina International Auto. They have brought in several
late model Alfa's for owners who purchased the cars in Europe. They are just north of Chicago in Wisconsin.

    Website is www.reinaintauto.com

They do drive them on the street.

    Phone number is 262-781-3336.

They work on Alfa, Ferrari's, Maserati's and are a Moto Guzzi, Piaggio and Moto Guzzi dealer. They used to be an Alfa dealer until Alfa left in 1995.
