What color is my 1984 GTB QV US grill supposed to be? Mine is clearly black. Did it start out life that way? It seems like all the pictures I can find of Euro grills are silver/ bare aluminum. But, I find some US grill pics that are black. I'm going to powder coat mine and just looking for which color I should pick. I guess if it's supposed to be bare aluminum I could just have it sandblasted and start over.

    Thanks,
    Jason

To media blast I'd use walnuts or softer, or just chemically strip it and polish it out.

Thanks for thinking of me, Bubba.

I gotta change the Michelin decals to BF Goodrich on the 550 (I don't think they were Scaglietti custom options). I just bought g-Force T/A KDW 2s for this season's track events.

Thanks guys! Black it is. I'm going to powder coat it, hopefully i can drop it off this week.

Wow, Mike the paint on the front of your car is perfect. I was just starting to feel like my paint was ok after days and days of buffing. Seeing your makes me realize I need to start over and repaint it.

Thanks Jason, My car is always in the garage NOT a garage queen but always inside when I'm not driving her. I wax it about 2 times a year and that's pretty much it. But if you notice, my grill is dirty because I never wax it nor dust it.

Some Lauda cars from his World Championship.
    A 312 T3, a 312 T4, and a 312T5. 1/43.

But they are perfect Mint In Box, I'm just glad to get a momento from such an enthusiast.

Valeria reminded I didn't win them, I bought them!! LOL!
Still..........they had the trunk badge from our cars too! $70.

I never really paid attention to the QV grilles, but if they were black, were thay painted or anodized?

It is anodized. If I were doing mine I'd have it re-anodized rather than powdercoat. Powdercoat, because of it's thickness, will round off the crisp edges. Most plating shops can anodize but sometimes they have a "no auto parts" policy due to the liability of working on irreplaceable vintage car parts. If you're going the powdercoat route ask them to put it on thin - just enough to cover
