    Scott,

The best prices I could find on the garage mats was from Northern Tool. Here's the direct link to the item, they come in different sizes. The 7.5 foot by 17 foot worked fine for my cars:
    http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=6970&langId=-1&catalogId=4006970&PHOTOS=on&productId=397630

I painted the floor myself using Rust-Oleum epoxy (solvent based) two part coating: http://www.rustoleum.com/product.asp?frm_product_id=59&SBL=1
You can get it at most hardware/home depot type of stores.

If you're interested, here's link to a photo album showing the complete process of my "econo" garage remodel:http://groups.msn.com/GaryReed/garageremodel.msnw

I would and that's what I'm doing for my next garage.

For my last home office, I painted 3 walls black and the third a familiar shade of red. Fantastic lighting.

Sorry, no pix. I know, I know, I suck.

    Gary,

Thanks!! Those pictures are great. How hard was it to prepare and paint the floor? Does it get slippery when it is wet or did you put some sand in it?

I don't even have a garage (have to rent one locally) and now I have to aspire to wanting something even half as nice as yours!

You guys have done a GREAT job! I'm impressed!

I can't wait to see more garge pics!

    Wow, these pictures look great!

I'm buying a house right now, and I'm probably going to be building a new garage in the next year or two, so keep these ideas flowing!

I will be redoing my garage next year sometime. Thinking about painting one wall yellow with the green/white/red stripe for the Italian flag about 9" high in the middle of the wall and on one end a large black "cavallino rampante". The other walls mabe a light gray, with red shelves and cabinets.

Is the Rustoleum epoxy the same as the Home Depot DIY kit? How has it held up to spills and hot tires?

    Doug,

Buy the "solvent" based two part system. Not the "water based" system. If they don't stock it, maybe they can special order for you.

It's much more durable than the water based stuff. You will need to wear a respirator though, it's really toxic. After I painted the floor, I left a rear window open in the garage with a large fan exhausting the air to the outside all night long. The smell still seeped into the house though, but it went away after a couple of days.

So far, the painted surface has held up just fine and it cleans up easily. Using rubber mats under the cars keeps the floor from getting wet/dirty when you drive the cars in from the rain.

I highly recommend buying garage floor mats.

Somebody had pictures of their garage a long time ago; a red 355 in a gargae that had red walls; w/black cabinets and black granite countertops. Bulit in tv/stereo etc. Tools in cutout foam shapes in the tool box etc. Anyone remember that setup? It was amazing.

W/ the red 328, the floor should be neutral, med grey.
I would go light grey on the walls to show off your car- not the garage. White is to stark. Only for a yellow car.

I thought this "Stradale" treatment was interesting. I found this pic online.

Here is the dealer shop "official" paint scheme. Rob used the drawings I have (which I can send you if you ask), but he used different colours.

It's a pre 80's Ferrari and the motor hasn't been rebuilt. The leaking tells me it still has oil in it. :D

Thanks but there are a lot of nice garages out there.

The workshop is not so pretty (see pics).I'll be doing the workshop walls with white FRP panelling (for easy cleaning) since we managed to get oil all over them when starting up the 355 after a major service. SD

Thanks all for the help guys!

After reading over and thinking carefully, I am going to go with a light grey wall paint. I leaned away from white since many said it may be too bright, and away from off-white (sp?) since it looked to yellow to me. Light kinda bluish grey is for me!

    Steve,

Your garage looks, Fan - bloody - tastic, I have no idea what you spent to get it looking like that, but if it's ever for sale, I'll sell up my 5 bedroomed house and move in !!!
