While refitting the rear bumper I noticed an identical male yellow/green plug as for the license plate light (which is located in the middle of the rear frame) located behind the Right tail lights, and disconnected, with a long wire tightly rolled and secured between the F1 fluid reservoir and the tail light.

I have never disconnected this plug, there is no female plug nearby to which it could be connected (that I can see) and the car is working absolutely fine.

I thought it could be a pre-wiring for US models that have the orange lights on the sides of the rear bumper, but this unplugged plug is only present on the right side of the car, none of the left side.

So just wondering if any of you have any idea what this plug is?
I also thought could be a plug for a trickle charger but (1) I have a trickle charger connected through the right door and no extra wire is tangling above the battery and (2) the wire to this plug is wrapped further up with the wire of the tail-lights so seems very factory to me.

Is the plug sealed or can you see the wire colours? How many pins does it have?

It doesn't look like part of the engine management system, so that doesn't leave many options.

I suppose you could check for voltage with the key off/on.

I assume things like your licence plate lights are working? And that your engine lid open warnings are shown on the instrument panel?

Thanks @Qavion , the question is more for curiosity than anything as indeed (1) number plate illuminated (2) everything working as needs be and (3) would need to remove the panels (again... have done it soooooo often I am getting tired of these ;o)) to investigate further.

The closest it could look would be part 181325 which is the coupling sensor / Selection Sensor, but since the F1 system works fine, not sure that could be it.

So I was asking the question here out of interest if anyone knew.

Different shaped plug. You can see the RH exhaust valve in the photo.
