What cover for a 328?

Griot's garage has a few styles available for a 328. I have an indoor cover (tan color) that fits well.

 

Not at all. It has a very soft inside and has never left a mark. Of course, I only put it on when the car is clean. Have to watch out for tire dressing and where you put the cover when it is off of the car. No way it will ever fit back in the bag it came in.

I think I have the "Dustop" cover.

BTW - buy a seperate ferrari emblemed bag for the cover. The little red one that the cover comes in is a joke.

 

I just got a black 328 gts and even though it is garaged, I did buy a car cover for it. After doing some research, I went with a Noah cover. It was very reasonable in price (ordered it from AutoAnything.com, which was cheaper than Griots) and it can be used outside or inside. Fits my car like a glove and I love it. No issues with paint scratches or marks. I highly recommend it.

 

For indoor use, fit isn't as precise. For outdoor (you said you didn't need one), you probably wouldn't want to use a 348/355 cover on a 328. I think the 328 is tad longer, not sure about the width, and any loose material might flap in the wind. In a garage this obviously isn't as big a deal.

For black paint, a few tricks:

1. Cover the car only when it is very clean.
2. Never cover it outside when it's windy.
3. Keep the cover clean, especially inside. Those jumbo laundromat washers are good for this.
4. Put the cover on and remove it using the "roll up" technique (sides up, then roll and fold lengthwise - the idea is to keep the cover material from moving across the paint.

 

I had one order from UK and it is red with soft cloth inside guaranteed no scratching but it does not prevent rain or water so must only be used indoor.

 

There is a 'factory' cover for the 328, and www.covercar.com makes them. They can no longer sell the logo'd version, as Ferrari yanked the license from them. You CAN buy the factory version w/ the prancing horse on it through the owners site, but it's about $300 I think.

My 328 is residing under it's red cover right now.

 

Whe I got him him to quote for my testarossa it was in the $300 range
I like a fool ordered from ferrari because I just had to have that damn horse.
Estimate delivery date 42 days - actual delivery 176 days.

 

And I thought I was the only one who waited that long for my factory cover (165 days). Same here, had to have the horse...

and am very pleased with it. I use the car frequently, so wanted something that would keep the dust off, yet remove/install easily, be lightweight and compact enough to fold up and stick in the front boot atop the spare tire.

Whatever cover you get, spend the extra couple of bucks and get the grommet-holes built into it and the locking cable and lock. If you ever use the cover in a public-access area, that will deter someone from helping himself to your nice cover.

 

i had purchased from covercar the finest and most expensive for my 512tr and was extremely unhappy w/ the material upon arrival. it seemed scratchy and rough....but that's just me. btw, they are very efficient w/ shipment and easy to deal with.

 

Prior to the factory cover, I used one purchased from Beverly Hills Motoring that I was very happy with. A lightweight cotton outside and a soft flannel underneath, easy to wash in a regular-size washing machine, a perfect fit w/mirror pockets, permanent grommets for the underneath cable, it folded up small...
Designed for indoor use only. If you check out their catalog/website, they still offer it. My wife bought me the factory yllw cover w/horse as a gift, otherwise I was very satisfied with this cover.

 

Noah is the best. Take it from someone who doesn't have a garage and has 5 cars. I have tried them all for 15 years. The Noah won.

 

My car cover from a 300 ZX fits my 328 like a glove. Even the "ears" for the mirrors fit nice.

This site has several brands of custom outdoor covers, including the Noah. It has a good rating system for various environments, including rain, dust, snow, pets(?!). There are some other covers that rate higher than the Noah for not much more money. Are you familiar with the other brands? I'm in the market for a couple of these things. Kinda sux buying them on the internet without fondling them. I want performance, but also don't want it to fold up to the size of an arctic military tent.

I haven't EVER even USED my cover yet as I have driven it everyday and it is too much of a pain to take off an on. However, I HIGHLY recommend a dash cover!!! I have one and the receipt that came with it and it is the ONLY reason my dash looks like it is NEW. The previous owner used it all the time and, I will be darned, if that dash doesn't look new.

It is TINY and very ligthweight and is a carpet-type mat that covers the dash perfectly. It then kind of folds up and will fit well behind the passenger seat. Can't even see it. Goes on in less than 10 seconds and puts away in the same time.

And I think the thing was only $35 or so. It also has hole so the vents are still all functional. I actually keep it on when it is really sunny and I am making long trips with the top off.

Get one of those and you will be pleased!!

 

To move the subject in a slightly different direction.....

Anyone know of where I can get a padded cover? I have 2 regular covers (interior and exterior) but I am interested in finding a THICK padded exterior version for protection of any dropped acorns or other assorted tree stuff. I live in an area with Gigantic trees that can occasionally drop small branches and acorns...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have looked around the web, but just not really finding anything that has the extra padding.

I needed one with one mirror, one with two mirrors, they said "No problem"....I suppose I could break the extra mirror off........
