Current weekend car is a 911/993 - I'll sell it when I find the right Ferrari. Love the P-car, but honestly I don't know how fun it would be to pay Porsche and Ferrari maintenance bills at the same time. Also I don't get to drive enough to keep more than one sports car in the stable.
I had and still have a H2 and Durango. Learned the F1 ride from borrowing my Dad's Maser Spyder which he completely hated and tried to sell me, ( as he did with a few successful pitches of various Benz's. ) I wouldn't mind adding an every day sports car to the garage, but recent purchases prevent that and probably will kill my Ferrari ownership soon. RocketBoy PS: "Im your huckleberry?" Classic response and what a movie.
I drove a 250 GTO Replica and still have it. I'm thinking of selling it and will decide in a week or two. I love her, but I've just got too many toys. Wes
At the time I bought my Ferrari Corvette Stingray My Benz-o couple of pick-up trucks a smashed Corvette and a couple others I think I have forgotten. Had them all for over a year into Ferrari ownership..flipped between the cars on a weekly basis..then I just got sick and tired of it. sold everything, kept the Benz and the Ferrari. Sold the Ferrari..still have the Benz..I think this Benz will be with me until I die..maybe I'll get buried in it. Best damn car I have Ever owned..Ferrari included.
'87 VW convertible I'd bought new. Now it's my 18-year-old daily driver, and the 328 is my 16-year-old car. I've always been a buy-and-hold kind of guy (besides, I still have two more years to go on my VW payments).
1979 Jaguar XJS with 383 TPI rat motor , B&M turbo 4sp . Had to give up the old toy for the new toy. Work car is a 2002 Jag X-type. Loved the smell of burnin rubber
Got the 348 in May 2004 Got the Boxster S for the missus January 2004 Got the 380SL January 2002 Got the 89 Mustang in late '96 - sent it to Sydney Got the 94 Cherokee September 94 in Sydney. Still have all of them. Made my list and I am (mostly) sticking to it, sort of. Looking at another car as we speak. Not blue; not a convertible....so the nominations can stay open for a while. Cheers Kevin
Supercharged Viper and a 3.4 996 engine boxster. Both great cars, a scalpel and a broadsword!! Still have the Pcar, but the viper came out on the short end of an encounter with a deer.
1971 TVR 2500 that I had owned since new (30 years) and had over 300,000 miles on it. 'Twas time for a new toy.
Karen: I've got two vehicles that will smoke whatever you've got in your garage: 1. An antique Ducati, Harris framed, weight about 280#s w/fuel, puts about 100 HP down at the rear wheel, 2. A 2004 GSXR1000, weighs about 380#s puts about 185 HP down at the rear wheel. Neither are street legal, but the Ducati ran high 9s at the quarter when we were tuning it for the races (with me on board), while the Suzuki ran low 9s while it was being tuned for the races. Both would be a lot quicker with a wheelie bar attached. The Ducati ran 1:49s at Sears Point in the mid 80s when I was racing it, and had the track record there for about 3 years, while the Suzuki won a few races with a client of mine on it last year. What's the bet on the race? I had a 930 before I got the 348 in 99. Art
Art, A bike against a car? That isn't even a race. I learned that one when I was 16 years old. NEVER race a bike. DJ
Here is the last (of five 240Z's) 240Z I drove before the 308. I still have it. 2.5 liter, balanced and blue printed. Flat top forged pistons 280 degree duration Comp Cam, 500 lift. 3 Weber 40 mm DCOE twin choke side drafts. A lot of other "stuff". It weighs about 800 lbs less than the 308 and produces about the same HP. It can easily can beat my 308 in a drag race up to 90 MPH. Cars 2 and 3. Since sold. Missed much. However, no time, space or inclination to keep more than one car in New York City. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
You too? I made an offer of 75% of ask and got it. This happened at an authorized Ferrari dealership too!
Drove a Lexus ES250 as a daily when I bought the 365. Traded it for an M3. Drove a Mercedes 500 SEL as a daily when I bought the Mondial. Traded it for a Carrera 4. Drove said Carrera 4 as a pseudo-daily when I found the 308 and sold it the same day.
I drove a 2001 NSX-T that I purchased new. It was a great car, but lacked the horsepower of the 360 Modena I bought to replace it with. The NSX is a little too refined -- extremely reliable, a pleasure to drive, but ultimately not very exciting. On the other hand, the 360 is a blast!
I too drive an NSX. I have a '92 Formula Red NSX w/ 26,000 miles. I'm selling it to buy a 308/328 this summer, if things go well. I'm probably an idiot for selling a low mileage, ultra-reliable semi-exotic car, but I think I said it best when I said "Owning an NSX only does one thing for you... it makes you want a Ferrari that much more." oh, btw... I have some friends with Toyota Supra's who might dare to disagree with that statement. In fact, if necessary, I have a video of one of the Supra's walking an '03 GSXR1000 from a roll. Bikes are definitely fast, but they aren't that fast. It's pretty rare for a bike to see anything better than 9 sec 1/4 mile passes, and if you go from a roll, the drag coefficient of a bike just hurts it that much more. Especially against a 9 second Supra, which is infinitely more difficult to beat from a roll. Those cars are just silly.
Well... Starting about 18 years ago: Porsche 924 Porsche 911 S 2.7 Peugeot 205 gti 1.9 Porsche 944 S Renault Alpine V6 turbo Porsche 911 carrera 3.2 Mercedes 190 E 2.5-16 2 Alfa 33's (1.7 QV) Alfa 155 2.0 TS Porsche 911 S2 (964) Alfa 156 2.0 TS Alfa 156 2.4 jtd Audi TT quattro 250hp VW Beetle 2.0 Audi A4 quattro 3.0 Porsche Boxster S 3.2 Ferrari 348 gtb Currently we own the A4 as the company car, the 348 for my pleasure and the Beetle is my wife's. The best overall car was the TT. It was my company car and I drove it almost 100.000 miles ! with just a new startermotor. An unbelievable car. I won't mention the motorbikes I had.
Are we talking about the track, a road course? I'll take that bet. 2001 Boxster S. Sold it about 4 months after the F-car. Too many cars and it wasn't being driven enough. It was only right to find a better home for it where it would get the proper exercise.
Beginning in 1968: 1.) ' 68 Chevrolet Chevelle. 2.) ' 77 Triumph Spitfire. 3.) ' 84 Honda Accord. 4.) ' 88 Honda Prelude. 5.) ' 92 BMW 325i. 6.) ' 98 Porsche Boxster. 7.) ' 00 911 Carrera 2. 8.) ' 01 911 Turbo. 9.) ' 03 FERRARI 456M GT. Looking at this list it occurs to me I never had to replace the clutch on any of them, including #2, which had 84,000 miles when I sold it.
