I guess I just got rid of my 2CV ("ugly duckling" citroen) and got several Autobiachi Abarths(red of course. they came wirh a black hood, but I had them painted red) in college. Much like a Mini Cooper on steroids.

Oh, indeed. White glove service the whole way. Why make your bed when there is a char to do it for you? An ancient academy with students from good, old Northeast families. Of course, we did get the occasional Southerner...
Man you guys had it good! When I was In high school they hadnt invented pavement let alone the auto. So it was uphill both ways with bare feet for me. PD
Humph! You musta gone to one of those no account schools if they let rednecks attend. Not that my daughter is a redneck by any means...

I drove my mom's car my Sr. High school a red/red 1983 Ford LTD, the original BAD CHARIOT! My 1st year of college I drove a 1979 Vette 4 on the floor, ok well it was a Chevette . My last year in college I had a 1967 Chevelle with a 300HP 327, 4 speed. Three days after graduation, a car side swiped it (hit and run) and in essense totalled it for I did not have enough insurance to fix it. Worst of all, it was a flippin Ford Escort that hit my car. The head light bezel broke off and Ford was able to tell me the model. As much as I was heart broken the Chevelle was replaced with a new Mustang GT in 1995 so I did ok. Now I drive a Nissan Maxima (Boston winters and rear wheel drive Mustangs do not mate well).
HS ... no car ... how I could live like that is beyond me. I had a dirtbike though. College, well ... senior year ain't here yet, but I drive a good ol 94 Ranger 4x4. Also have an 00 CR 250 and 97 SkiDoo MXZx 440.
IN 1972 -- 67 Ford Fairlane $825 - white vinyl roof In 1973 -- 68 Mustang Fastback - red/auto then- 72 Ford Capri 73 240Z fast forward to 2004- 1999 Ferrari 550
HS = Toyota Celica, bought with money from pizza joint and golf course; I enjoyed it, but it was never quite what I really wanted... Late Senior year, once I had earned scholarships to pay for most of college, that freed up the money I had saved for college to be used instead to buy what I really wanted during high school... a Datsun 280ZX... found one with a really sun-faded paint job real cheap, allowing me to get a Euro-quality paint job (Japanese paint sucked back then)... can you guess... yep, basically Ferrari's modern titanium color with red accents. I loved that car at the time... loved driving it out into the hill country west of Austin... but I really had no idea how much better a car could handle and feel! I'll never forget when years later I was looking for the sportiest sedan I could find when my budget could finally support a BMW... I went in thinking it would be an over-hyped luxury sedan... I left thinking "damn, that handles better than any sports car I've driven!". Put my 280ZX (even my glorified faded memories of it) to shame.
