What did you drive when you went to College?

1991 Toyota Landcruiser with 201k miles, that I still own today as a backup vehicle. Got it new my senior year in high school. These things are bulletproof!

Great story and gorgeous cars - I'm very envious! How times have changed in terms of classic car value. The Carrozzeria Touring Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider is certainly one my all time favorites.

 

Oddly enough I started college in a 1987 Maserati Biturbo, which I still own, but by my Senior year I was riding a bike. Hillarious now that I look back on it, but true!

 

I took the city bus to college because I owned a 1965 Lotus Elan.

 

Wow! Considering you enrolled in college in 1985, I'd guess I'd be right in saying that you were on a bit of a shoestring!

 

1988 Ford Escort Wagon - silver with gray cloth seats - It didn't always start and the passenger side door couldn't be opened from the inside. I still wonder how I managed to convince any girls to ride in that ticking time bomb. However, one of the girls I did convince is now my wife..........at least I know she didn't like me just because I had a nice car!

It was in line for son's college vehicle...but I wudn't give it up...gave him the 3yr old Expedition instead[which is now long gone] and the Cruz trukn along...best backup ever...pulls/hauls/goes...I'd like to find a front brush-guard but no ebay luck so far...you never know when it mite be needed to push sumthin,hard

When I was going to college there was comunism era in my country. No cars for students. So I used trolley. Best.

I was quite lucky to have a family in the automobile dealership business, so I could buy and sell cars on a whim and just attach dealer plates. No need to worry about registration or insurance. My cars in college (undergrad and grad schools) were:

'56 Chrysler 300B
'56 Chevy V8 stick
'59 Jaguar XK150S
'64 Alfa Romeo Guilia Sprint
'64 Elva Courier
'67 427 Corvette
'68 Charger R/T stick
(also a few motorcycles)

I drove a 1966 Mustang convertible while I was in college from 98-01. 289, 4 speed, candyapple red, white top, black interior.
I restored it with my father while I was in high school.
Having used it as a daily driver (more or less) for 13+ years has taken its toll, and it's about to the point where it needs to be restored again.
But I'll never sell it - not even to buy my first F-car.
