No pictures, sorry. Tried to get lobster roles for a friend’s 85th birthday but we were kinda late for Goldbelly and shipping was about the same as the meal. So plan B, off to Costco and bought a four pack of lobster tails, steamed them and made our own. Did a moveable feast and drove into DC for a Sunday afternoon visit with a fancy lunch. Fantastic. Time is short, keep up with friends.
Hiram’s in Ft Lee, NJ. Along with Rutt’s Hut, a premier example of NJ style deep fried hot dogs-a Thumann’s brand natural casing, beef/pork blend specially made for deep frying (not available in stores). 6 to a pound (Rutt’s are 8/lb), toasted rolls, Admiration brand mustard. $2.25 for a 12 ounce Miller High Life! O’Hare Terminal C, Gate 21, oh how I’ve missed you! Yes, it’s “just” Reggio’s, but it’s a Chi Dog! Not a mustard fan, but I wouldn’t insult you with ketchup like I do with a $1.50 Costco dog . Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mayfair Chippy for lunch while waiting for our hotel room to be ready. Guinness chaser. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Spent a good part of the day roaming around Harrods. Stopped for lunch at the pizza restaurant. Margherita, 1 pint of Moretti for me and a half pint for Mini Me. 58 $USD and change for lunch with a 12.5% service tip they’re now charging at some places. Dough ok. Not enough smokiness for me. Wondering if truly a wood fired oven given central London location. GREAT mozzarella. Snappy chew. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Mayfair Chippy stated it went to the staff. Same with the steakhouse tied to the hotel our first night’s dinner (didn’t feel like trekking out). No mention at Harrods. All service fee locations stated it was optional, but you had to manually deduct on the printed bill. I wasn’t going to mess with it since we’re on vacay. But I see the trend… No service fee at the pub last night and tonight’s Mediterranean place.
Seems like it is not needed and just makes things more complicated for the customer. I normally tip around 15-20 percent and usually round it up too so throwing the 12.5 percent in then I would have to figure out the difference. Would rather just figure in the 20 percent than sitting there and doing math equations.
Day 5 in London. We snacked on pastries and coffee for breakfast vs full meal and then headed to Covent Garden. After shopping, lunched at Punch & Judy, established in 1787. A little heavy, but I wanted Mini Me to experience Meat & Ale pie with mashies. Decent. Guinness chaser. Image Unavailable, Please Login
During our Porto Venere visit, we stopped by this foccaceria before hitting the road again. Amazing foccacia. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

The region is known for focaccia. This was a cheese stuffed focaccia. I cannot recall the cheese type. My guess is mozzarella.
