    Hello brotherhood,

Just wanted to hear how my other 355 bretheren feel about the styling of the new 458 Spyder. I've always been a diehard 355 lover, feeling it is definitely more beautiful than th more modern 360 and 430 designs. However, when the 458 Italia Coupe came out, I immediately felt it trigger the same emotions and desire as the forever beautiful 355. It had similar angular styling cues as the 355, which as e eryone knows became an immediate hit. Now with the introduction of the 458 Spyder, I am again in awe. The spider appears to even more resemble the 355. With the roof up, the 458 Spyder has the wonderful buttress wings that were last seen on F355 Berlinetta and GTS models. In addition, the 458 Spyder has similar 355 style rear engine cover vents, without the clear window as has been in the 360 and 430 models. With the top down the 458 Spyder resembles the rarer and more desirable 355 GTS! People with the 355 GTS's would always say they have the "best of both worlds" in comparison to the 355 Berlinetta or Spyder models. Clearly, with the 458 Spyder, this "again" hold true. I think I've found my new love. Ferrari hit a 9th inning, 7th game, world series, home run with this one!

The 458 Spider is the first Ferrari since the 355 Spider that I've had interest in.

I would actually consider selling it.......

For sure many of would wish for the 3 pedals, but unless you are the Sultan of Brunei I don't think this will be an option for spec'ing your 458 spider order. What I meant most in my initial post was mostly the styling elements of the 355 that were similar in the 458 Italia coupe and now the even more 355 styling elements in the 458 spider that has really gotten me excited about the "looks" of this new car. Of course, just like any car, you must drive it to really see how it is. I do suspect the the new dual clutch tranny will be just fine.

I have said this since the 458 was introduced:

I do not get overly excited when I see a 360 or 430. However, after seeing the 458 in person I WILL sell my 355 I'm about 7 years to purchase a used 458 Spider. Based on what I believe will be the depreciation rate, this is when I should be able to afford one with ease. :)

OMFG the 458 is gorgeous!!!! :)

Yes, this is true. The style elements are much more similar to the 355 than the 360/430. Perhaps that's why I always end up running the 458 around on Gran Turismo 5 (ha!)...

Although impractical for an engine like that, the three pedal system just is more visceral to me than a "flappy paddle" system.

Ferrari gets an A++++ for the styling on this new vehicle.

I think the 458 Spider is much better looking than the coupe and much better looking than the 360 or 430 Spiders.

I still prefer the look of the 355, but it is arguably getting dated looking and the 458 is modern and sexy - I think the top is awesome as well and so much simple in operation than all previous models!

I too would prefer a 6 speed on the 458!

Exterior: First Ferrari since the F355 that I would want to buy and drive. Seriously missed on the Manual tranny.

Interrior: A bit overly fussed up.

Spider: Looks considerably worse than the Berlinetta.

Add me to the 6 spd list as well. I fully recognize that the dual clutch, paddle shift setup is faster than any 6 spd manual. That said, I'd be willing to give up some performance for the visceral feel of the 6 spd, simplicity, and presumed greater long term durability. Guess I'm just a bit old school.

The 458 Spyder looks AWESOME!!! I just wish it came with 3 pedals-7 speed manual too! My next car may just have to be a manual 430 or manual (yikes) Gallardo!
