(btw is his name spelled wrong?? Didn't show up much in Google on this)

Simply awesome, he could drive ANY car in the world - but he chooses a car his country built and he's humble about his massive fortune :)

It's all by design and gives the "hey, I'm an average Joe just like you" persona. I guess it also shows confidence with themselves. BTW, watch for a change in the gas guzzlers these guys drive for greener rides, soon if not already. ;)

I think for most of those above its not about frugality its more about a lack of interest in cars...Im also not 100% convinced many of those are true...I think thats a smart publicist at work.

Im not saying they all drive Bentleys..I know thats not true. I would say many of them drive fairly new comfortable vehicles that are not ostentatious like the F150 or a a Lexus (actually most of the people I know with money outside of the film business drive a Lexus )

Are we totally sure that the Buffet Lincoln Town Car info is up to date? I had a dealer call me to see if I might be interested in it a couple of years back...the story was that he got something newer and had given it to his housekeeper lady as a gesture of appreciation when she had to retire. She was supposed to have died and then it went on the market from her family.

They thought it might be worth bags of money because of the "provenance"...so I guess go figure.

but a Porsche 959 Coupe is no sleeper! I like the way Paul Allen got Bill Clinton to sign off on his 959 to pass DOT so he could drive it on the roadways.. he got the cash........

All depends if they are 'car people' or not. If they all were, then I am sure they would be driving some pretty cool cars. But they all seem to be very modest with their transportation, so I dont think they really are. I know some guys that are could afford some nice rides, but could not care less about owning/driving anything other than a stock BMW ect.... :)

very cool list, it's always cool seeing stuff like this, puts a sense of realsim to the "super duper rich"
looking at what people like gates and buffett drive, then looking at what someone like jay leno drives, is a huge difference. don't get me wrong, leno isn't struggling financially, hell, i'd love to have his checking book, but he isn't anywhere near gates or buffett, yet has a garage valued millions more then these super rich. it's pretty cool to see some of these differences.

Yeah, I don't get that either, but I think that's the exception rather than the rule.

Most of the people in that caliber do not care to spend what little free time they have behind the wheel and most of them did not get to that level by having expensive distracting habits along the way. At that level it's houses, planes, boats...either ways to bring you closer to your family or make your time more efficient.

Maybe they just have so much of everything that they just don't care anymore... I was really in to home entertainment system. Built the ultimate system with almost every link in the chain state of the art. When it was finished it didn't excite me anymore. Perhaps the same thing here? They can have anything they want, so they just don't care.

Don't know how it is over at USA and so on, but the newly rich people flash their money a lot with expensive things - but the REALLY rich people don't care to show off their wealth at all. That's the way some people are here in Norway.

Also, perhaps those on the list aren't that much of car enthusiasts. It's like the Spiderman actor Toby Mcguire. TV show Fifth Gear asked him what he would like to buy next. "Eh... I think I want one of those more envoirement friendly cars" (Prius!) - he could also get almost whatever he desired, but he's sticking with a anonymus car... (I know I know, it's "in" to have a Prius in Hollywood now days, but this guy probably couldn't separate what Lamborghini's made from what Ford made)
