OMG, She's a beauty!!! I love it!!! I have often thought of getting a Duc 250 or 450 desmo, but have the same reservations about small displacement bikes hauling my large displacement body.
Totally love it. Buy it and go to any car show you can find. There is always a class for motorcycles and you are certain to take home the trophy (how you'd do that, I dunno). PS: I used to drive motorcycles back in Europe.
I just looked at it again today, and that is a great looking bike! I just have a feeling I would never have to replace brakes, since it looks like I could stop it with my feet!
My friend and I plan on getting some Cafe Racers or something racer-like by the end of the year...With an Italian bike I would definately bring it around. What was you ride of choice?
Well Switzerland has somewhat different laws and I actually think they make sense: With 18 you're allowed to get your license for a 125cc max bike. Normally that means everybody gets a Yamaha DT as it is the fastest there is (or was when I was 18). Being the eternal contrarian I had to do something different and got a 125 cc Honda Enduro. Cool looking thing, but not as fast as the Yamaha. After two years with the 125 permit you're allowed to go for the big license. To get that you have to have at least a 250 cc bike. So I went and got me a Suzuki GT 250cc street bike. That felt like heaven after the Honda and was cool as long as you didn't have a 2nd person on the back. I drove that bike summer and winter, sun, rain or snow. Then came the army days and I did my military bike license and got one of those monsters: 325 cc Condor. Condor? It is one of those typical Swiss Government deals where instead of just picking a regular bike of the shelf, they had to satisfy several contractors and built their own concoction of a bike. It is made out of about 5 different vendors and handles like that. Brake and clutch handles are reversed and the gears go the opposite way. So in essence after years of practice on a street bike you hop on this thing, hit the gas, the first turn arrives you brake and nothing happens because you hit the clutch. I always thought they made it like this so that if the bike falls in enemy hands they just go on and kill themselves in the first turn. After the army I soon came to the US, so the biking thing was kinda done for. My dream bike however would have always been a 650 cc Honda CBR (I believe). Perfect weight to power ratio. Fast enough for me, yet not a monster that shreds the driver to pieces. Nimble and powerful and beautiful. Now that I'm into the Ferrari stuff, a Ducati would probably be the weapon of choice.
I once had a Zundapp 125cc Dirt Bike. It was German. My first (of many) Dirt Bikes after the Mini Bikes. I was in 8th grade, and paid $100.00 for it! It was weird, too. Shifter on the right, kick starter on the left,as I recall.
