As a member of the M5board, we had a thread a while back that asked members what they did, to get a feel for what your average M5 owner does for a living. Im interested in seeing if there are any trends in Ferrari enthusiasts in Chicago and the business they are in. As for me, I am a commercial real estate broker

LOL ewww...I cant see how anyone could eat "dishes" like foie gras, pancreas, tripe...yuck!!...way too many things out there I wount even think about eating. But then again, I am all for a nice burger or steak if I dont see the bone or get a stray bite of fat...if I do, I am done eating for the day. Like ribs...l love the meat, but cant eat it cause of the bones and fat.

Uh oh, I feel myself moving OT...... I feel a Hijack coming on...

Regardless of what your personal preferences in the restaurant smoking ban or the foie gras issues are... I warned people, when they decided that they could make restaurant owners cater to the will of the city council rather than that of their patrons, the next step could be legislating what kind of food they could or should serve. The responses that I received were laughing and complete disbelief and now the city council has proven me quite correct!!!

    Absolutely ridiculous!!!

If you don't like smoke, you have the choice to go to a non-smoking restaurant, let the clientele set the policy, if the owner sees that his business is hurt by allowing smoking, he will change it, but IMO it is his choice. Now, even more stupid, I do not see any reasonable way that someone eating foie gras could possibly, impede the enjoyment of another diner, if it does, that diner should have just stayed at home and eaten sprouts. It has nothing to do with my personal feeling on the treatment of Geese and I don't even eat liver. Please, excuse my outburst.

and now... back to our regularly scheduled program!

I'm surprised the starter of this thread didn't get pointed to the countless other threads that ask this same question.

I love foie gras, but wouldn't eat it anymore because of the poor ducks being force fed.

While being off topic: What bothers me more foodwise is that things like steak tartar and Zaballone are practically banned in the US out of fear for lawsuits over an upset stomach. Something to feast on outside the US.

Sean: In the regional sections we can discuss things separately as the focus is well regional.

My Ribs are Smoked and slowcooked (keep the heat "low and slow"-the secret to BBQ success!...:) ) for hours. And I keep a spray bottle full of water to spray them occassionally. That gets the Fat to drip off, and keeps them nice and moist and Yummy!!! No fat. And they fall right off the Bone. You MUST try them sometime!...:)
