Karen, respectfully, what do you think your father would think? Would he be happy for you or would he cring with the thought that he worked years to save that money or what? I promise, I'm not being critical, I just really wonder. :)

    Dear Ferraristi,

It's very simple really. Just plain simple work....well working smart. :) I work hard and I play hard. What's the point of working if you don't have any fun. I love my TR ( you gotta love it at that level of maintenance cost ) and I enjoy working on it. For me, it's my way of relaxing. Sure, I have the insane stereo but I relax by doing something.

    Cheaper than theropy !

Dont spend it on wine, women and song.

PS Start your own business, you'll never make any money working for someone else.

My only family member died about 3 years ago unexpectedly. I had money of my own at the time - however, the event motivated me to sell my company and start "living", because life is short. I bought my Ferrari and started doing all those things we say "some day I'll....do this and that".

With me, no matter how hard I worked, how much money I had, how many things I bought - it was never enough. 3 years ago I decided enough is enough - I had a lot of stuff and no time to enjoy it. Today I'm grateful for everything that has been given to me and have no regrets.......

Could not disagree with you more. Cars are a depreciating asset (typically), money is very cheap to be had. Most of my vehicles are at 4.5 to 6 percent. I can invest money selectively and make 7-11 percent. Why would I pay cash and net loss 3-7 percent? Cash flow is the name of the game. It is how people make millions. I can invest 200K in my business and turn a 30% return in 3 years. Why would I want to invest cash in a car and lose money????? When I buy a vehicle I pay enough down to "buy off" my depreciation over 2 years so when I want to sell, I sell. Just my .02 cents.

Venusone and I share the same motivating occurance..

Eurotrash, as far as "what would they think?"

Hard to say, but the money was left because of the lifestyle THEY led, which gives you somewthing to think over!!! But carefull selection of model means the money's not gone...it's 'over there' in that Italian car! LOL!

That it funny, I was actually thinking of getting a custom plate that said "Pole Position" (POLPSTN)
It is a double entendre on account of me being Polish...

    No Fun.

Not advocating anything, but don't be on your deathbed wondering if you missed out. Life is indeed too short for regret.

As for how I afford my Ferrari, I don't. I'm still 3~ years away from that. ;)

IF I had a F40 I would too but thats my point. I'm getting married next year and its costing a fortune. Wedding cost, new house, new furniture, honeymoon, etc. is kicking my ass. :)
