If it were at least a mercedes you would feel the person has reason to care for his car and keep his distance but if its a worthless car, they got nothing to lose.

I wouldn't want to hit my brakes but you would imagine lesser cars could at least show some respect?

If you cant change lanes or speed up what are your options?

Normally they just want to hear it, I blip the throttle for them and wait for the thumbs up!

Usually give some gas and separate some distance. Sooo many accidents happen because nitwits "playing" with you, taking pics, etc. And end up crashing into you. I don't trust them or their insurance companies.

If it were any other car.. hit the brakes to avoid a squirrel. ;)

happens often here too, and I hate it...but the worst situation I have been experiencing was a girl sitting on my front bumper to have a pic taken by her boyfriend...I almost hit her.

I was recently following a pick up truck. On the tailgate was a sign that said the closer you follow the slower I go. So I got right on his ass as I was in no hurry. The guy slowed down to a crawl. In fact he missed two green lights at an intersection just to try to make his point.

Personally I'd step on the gas.

There are no lesser cars. As I read here before, most cars are better, ours are just more fun.
I haven't had any problems that I've noticed. And since my car is an extension of my pen1s I don't mind the ladies putting their hands all over it sitting on it, etc.

Do you consider any vehicle other than a Merc or Ferrari less worthy of respect and common courtesy?

If a Ferrari cannot keep up with me in my "less than worthy" Miata who is at fault?

A driver control's the lane they are in regardless of what car is behind them. I do not "brake check" in the Miata I just slow down to a snails pace and laugh.

With the spicy cocktail of fumes coming from my non-cat-rich-running-oil-drinking carbed car, tailgaters are no longer an issue for me. ;)

Those that do tailgate, wind up smelling funky until their next bath or shower.

Thanks for some logical and funny responses.

Mercedes are not less worthy but they should keep their distance from more expensive cars. Equality is not an excuse to harass/bother.

If a Ferrari "can't keep up" (more than likely doesn't choose to in your case) then it's no excuse to tailgate him.

Slowing down to make a point is asking for an accident and only pisses people off. All cars should drive responsibly and keep their distance. It's just that people can't stay away from these f-cars.

I'm just curious what kind of Ferrari do you have?

I have seen a lot of miatas with Ferrari stickers. Is this some kind of joke?

i like to do the old fake brake check, i just turn my lights on for a quick second. Of course this only works during the day but they just see taillights all of a sudden and you see the nose dive. I still maintain my speed and drive away laughing.

Forum membership is not restricted to Ferrari owners, it's for Ferrari enthusiasts, including those who don't own one yet. Plenty of members don't own a Ferrari at the moment.

Well noted and thanks for the clarification. If I remenber correctly there was another forum where they verify user's VIN before allowing access. Is it allowed to discuss that here and if so does anyone know that name of that forum? I am new to this forum and just learning its rules.

Thats an awesome idea! I'm sure it works every time?

Also I'm sure this trick works on all Ferraris?

That would be the Owner's Forum.

You have be verified by a couple FChatter's, who have seen your Ferrari in person. That is how you get registered to join the forum.

Even if you have a couple F-cars you still have to own a couple others for practicality purposes. We are here to share ideas and I would never belittle anyone is a lesser car (you never know what else they have in the garage).

I just know regardless what car i'm in I wouldnt pester any exotic. I always give right of way to better cars and they deserve it! Besides, its more fun/eye candy to have them in front of you than in your rear view

I used to speed up, tap the brakes, or use lights - now I either ignore them or turn off the road if they stay there too long.

I see tailgating as a threat to my car. It happens mostly in rural areas where I enjoy driving in the countryside. It usually is a pick up truck with a redneck driving it. The truck looks as if it could hit my car and it would only improve the looks of the truck. There is no way I would do anything to get my beautiful 512TR trashed in the rear. Regardless of any insurance settlement, it would break my heart. Probably no insurance any how.

My solution is to speed like crazy and take the corners as quickly as possible. I gain distance in the corners. I think that's what they want to see anyways. There are no police waiting anywhere and the cell phones have no signal. It gets fun.

If they pass me when in the small towns I usually hear insults and threats, not sure what the psychology is there, besides ignorance.

Maybe the Pavarotti doesn't mix well with the banjo.

Tailgating is a poor driving habit that many drivers have regardless of the car they are following. I don't see tailgating more frequently behind a Ferrari than any other car. But cars driving up along side, definitely happens more often. Adjacent drivers want to see who is driving, get a look at the side profile of the car, or wave, or ask the driver to race.

I think the bigger problem is not tailgating of a Ferrari, its having a car following in an adjacent lane in the blind spot. These are low, wide cars that don't provide the best peripheral views, so camping in the blind spot puts both drivers at risk.

Just throw the empty beer can out the window. If that doesn't wake em' up... throw the empty wine bottle. If that doesn't work.. well I don't even want to think about tossing the keg.. ;)
