Goatboy hasn't been back in over 3 days at this point, since post #85, and yet his thread lives on... lol
I have a few different things I do aside from my day job (I have rental property, and I referee ice hockey).
This, although my wife works the register and I am a fry cook, but we both have the same drive and motivation! She's just slightly more successful.
See, that's what you want, that shared drive that will lead to success. And don't worry that she's making more than you right now, because you're just one well-timed grease fire away from manning the whole grill!
Wait.... Dennis Moore? Is that you? I never knew there was so much money in lupines. “Dennis Moore, Lupine da-nore, Extra or........ Dinary.”
I think that this thread would have actually been interesting if people posted what they have really done all of their life to get where they are at.
To be fair, a few of us did... The honest answer though, is a lot of us have boring jobs. You work in a senior / leadership position at a company, or you own a small business and you make money, or you work in a very specialized field (think doctors, lawyers, etc.). It's not like we're in a position to say "follow my steps and you'll be here someday!" as there's more to it than that.
I think what we do for a living is a rather personal question. We can choose to answer in an open forum or not. Some find it "none of your business". Some don't mind talking about it with strangers. I've met people at a party who have asked me and sometimes I just say I'm an accountant a law firm. The conversation stops immediately and we go on to other more interesting topics.
Clearly, admitting to being an international arms dealer just leads to so many more questions... Well played, I say.
I don't really care if people know what I do and maybe at a car gathering or a party I would tell you. There is something about asking on a public forum I don't like.
I used to tell people I was an undertaker. Hmm... you don't look too good. Here, let me give you my card.
That reminds me of Mark Nyhart(sp?). He was the unofficial grim reaper, NORM!, and general mayor of Wrigleyville in the late 80s through the early 2000s. Everyone knew him as "digger." He was the caretaker of Wunders Cemetery on Clark street about a mile north of Wrigley Field. He was at least 6'3" and built like a tank. His business cards were part of his pick up shtick in the Wrigleyville bars. The tag line on the card was, "The last man to ever let you down." Fact is usually stranger than fiction.
