What do you guys think about this 360?

Yesterday I flew from Brussels to Berlin to have a look at a titanium 360 spider F1.
The car has 34k km and was until May 2010 regularly serviced at the same Ferrari dealer following the book.
The car was fitted with daytona seats, challenge grill (rear and front) and a Fuchs sports exhaust. The clutch was renewed in May 2010 and the belts have been replaced in 2009. The first owner owned the car until June 2010.

The Ferrari was not prepared when I arrived. It was dirty and the battery was flat.
The key was chipped, the toolset was missing and the wallet for the books was missing. All books were there though. The interior looked used for a 30k km car.
The roof has probably been stowed while it was wet, because the roof was creased on the passenger side. Also did the roof have small scuffmarks on the corner of the windows.

I did not drive the car.

I will post some pictures. What do you think? The price is low-normal for a grey 360 spider F1. The wallet and the toolkit can be replaced. The creased roof will probably be a lot better when you put the car in the sun.
Did any one of you see these scuffmarks on the roof corners before? Are they easily repairable?
Technically the car is well cared for, but for the rest the car was very poorly cared for.

Year of the car? Asking price? Updates in sticky at top of this forum regarding buying a 360 done? You flew in but didn't drive it? Pretty hard to say, except if you are not pumped and confident that its the perfect car for you for a very fair price then maybe it is best to move on. Good luck in your search.

 

Why didn't you testdrive it?

 

Creases in the fabric top look typical for a car that has not had to top put up much. As for the wear of the interior, from what I can see that too is fairly standard. The key with paint chipped off. Looks much better than most I have seen and would worry little about that. More interested in how the car drives which from what I've read you didn't do. Like what has been said above, if it doesn't feel right, it's not.

It doesnt look bad.Certainly not a mint 360 Spider but not trashed either. The seats are worn but it is at best 7 years old and at most a 11 years old car. It might have just 34k kms but if the owner did small commutes every day, that will wear the seats as well.

 

I know that I should have driven the car, but I guess I was upset that the guy did not prepare the car. This in combination with the missing items and the scuffy interior made me angry and leave. Before I flew I asked the guy about the car, and it was a different story.
Later......., at the airport I gave it a second thought. But then there was no more time.
I guess we can't all be perfect.

btw the car is a 03/2002 car. Asking price is €70.000,-

 

I don't know the value of the car and I don't speak or read German but I love any car that has the word "Fahrt" on the floor mat.

At times my top looks like that. Needs to be cycled regularly and stored up. The interrior is another matter. It looks well used to me. What does it have 34K kilometers? Is that 20K miles? If you see a car that deserves care with an interrior like that after 20K miles, I'd say the lack of accessories fits the picture - a careless owner who now wants money in accordance with a well maintained and cared for 360, without the well cared for,

A person who presents the car without spiffing it up probably never spiffed it up nor cared much about it. It is like arriving at a job interview late. If it aint right on that ocassion it probably will never be right.

 

The top is not an issue. Yes, it looks creased, it looks faded. These issues can be recitified as the top can be refreshed, else replace the entire fabric. Shouldn't cost over 2K?

The interior looks pretty much what I would expect from a used 360, though a tad bit more worn than usual.

But like Dough mentioned, if the car was presented to you in this fashion, it probably shows the owner doesn't give a crap about it, which also speaks about how it was treated and cared for. If I were you, I'd move on.

Normally most people would put in some effort to buff up the car, spruce up the interior just before a viewing as it would result in a higher perceived value.

 

While I agree that a specific type of owner would have presented the car in a better condition, it is also viable to consider that you are looking at a car that was cleaned and detailed for the sale.
A clean and shiny car does not always equate to be a good running car.

Assuming the service records are legitimate and the milage since the last service is not excessive, it could still be a good choice and allow a margin for price negotiation. It is amazing what a good " detailing " will do for a car.

Years ago, while I was looking to purchase my first sport car, it was suggested to me by an " old car salesman " not to be enamored by the shiny paint and clean engine bay, but to look at the wear on the pedals and driver side carpet ..... how many of us have seen that worn brake pedal rubber on the pristine looking " low milage " car ?

 

I agree that it could still be a technically good car. Today I talked to them about the price, but they would not give in one penny.
I guess I should trust my initial gut feeling and move on.
