Being a car guy, I am always looking at different cars. Out of these cars what do you predict they will do market wise(appreciate, depreciate, static) in the future?

    1. Ford GT static

    2. 512 TR static

    3. F355 appreciate

    4. 993 TT static

    5. 996 GT2 appreciate

    6. 997 GT2 appreciate

It would be interesting to hear your opinions.

GT versions of almost any Porsche should appreciate, unless it was poorly cared for.

    +1 ..... on the 993TT ... sometimes I regret selling mine ..

The 355 should hold to appreciate depending on the version and condition.

What do you mean by "in the future"? - A years time?, 2 years?, 5 years?, 10 years?, 20 years??????????

Wait long enough and they will all appreciate to one degree or another (wait even longer still - until the petrol/gasoline runs out, and they will all probably become worthless!)

Oz, what were the specs on your 993TT? Lately, there hasn't been too many 996 GT2's for sale.

How much more can the 993tt apreciate. It'll never be a million at car. Well maybe.....
Ford gr, 512tr and the 355 will go apreciate for sure. Porsche gt cars will go up. It's a fact.

I was also wondering how much more the 993 TT can appreciate as well as the 512 TR and Ford GT.

I am confident the 355 will be back into 6 figures within the next 3 years.

I don't think it will reach much more beyond that in the short term (5-10 years) but who knows?

My 993TT was a 1997 .... I added full factory 'S' suspension, went through the hydraulic valve lifters. Also upgraded the turbos and ECU to full GT2 spec ... I recall it was about 450-ish HP. It was a great car and ran perfectly ..... sadly I sold it to a guy who was not a complete car guy and it saw some abuse from him :( ..... that was one of the several reasons I regret selling it .....

996 GT2 had a great look when they came out ...... but when the 997 series was introduced, it was such a big step for the better ...... kinda like when the 458 came out .... :)

That car most have been a rocket with 450 hp. The 993's are great cars. I agree with you with regards to the 996 and 997. Both are great cars especially the 997 which went back to the 993 styling. I believe the 997 GT2 was the first 911 to hit 200 mph.

It was quick :) ....... the ECU change increased the boost level from .08 to I think 1 full bar. I had the turbos rebuilt with GT2 spec compressors. Stock was around 404 HP ... so 450-ish was a noticeable bump :D ...... one could have gone higher but I wanted to stay within factory spec and not have to change too many other affected parts ....

The Turbo 997s are insane, with their variable vane turbos ...... I believe they get full boost and torque by 2000 RPM ..... :p

The value has skyrocketed so quickly on so many cars I really have no idea.

I personally wouldn't go newer than 993 as far as Porsche. (probably because I don't really want it vs if I have any idea what they will do as far as pricing)

+1 on the GT2 and 993. I may be biased but I think these two will continue to rise slowly. I've owned both an 04 GT2 and a 96 993TT and made the worse decisions of selling both. I didn't think about appreciation values as I bought these cars for pure enjoyment and that beautiful rear be-hind ;)

I see the1995 Ferrari 355's appreciating in value already, when a Ferrari hits 20 years, that's about the time when it starts. Testarosa, 512TR and 512M are going to be a big investment in the near future, they are already fetching twice as much as they were 5 years ago. AS to Porches and others, I'm a Ferrari guy so I have no inputs.

I can see Testarossa's fetching $500k one day. Too many on the market right now for that though.

355's are a sound "investment driver" car in my opinion. There's too many of them for them on the market for them to be worth much more than $100k (for prime examples).

The list of cars that will appreciate is long. I could go on for hours.

    I can't see a TR getting $500K, maybe a 512 TR.

You're right. The 512 TR and the 512 M will be $500k cars probably in the next 10 years or less. The 512 M probably much sooner (if not already).

Wow...just checked and 512M's are moving for over $500k already. That happened fast!

That is amazing. I wouldn't have guessed that. I like the TR, and I really like the 512 TR, but have never really cared for the 512M(wheels, headlights, taillights). It only happens once in awhile, but of these cars the one I like most is not the most expensive one.

A well sorted 355 should be relatively close in price to a well sorted 993 TT, not half the price :).

    +355!

355s and 348s are undervalued, especially in this market. Heck, look at what 911SCs are bringing these days. 348s are much more car than an SC, but they're available at similar prices to nice (but typically higher mileage) SCs.

I don't pretend to know when/if the "bubble" will burst, but it's clear that the market is hot for "old school" sports and GT cars right now, yet the 355 and 348 have yet to really take off like other, lesser, cars. Market fluctuations aside, there's got to be some decent upside over the long term in our cars.

And even if there isn't, as those of us here already know, both are awesome cars that provide an unparalleled ownership experience. Not to mention the camaraderie of this forum. Even just compared to a new Chebbie 4x4, both F-cars are bargains in today's market, which means current buyers are unlikely to have regrets

    ///Mike
(Used to track both a 355F1 and a 993TT regularly (not mine) and would choose the 355 every single day of the week)
