I have looked around and not seen a discussion on this....if I missed it, please direct me to that thread I am in the market for a 355, and was just curious what it costs to insure. And who do you insure with? Thanks.
I use Met Life (their property division). Less than $650/year for full coverage (on a 348 spider), unlimited miles, primary driver, track-use OK, work-use OK, and includes uninsured motorist coverage. Allstate's pretty cheap, too.
I have my 1990 348 listed as a pleasure vehicle with little yearly mileage insured by State Farm. Since I also have other cars and my home insured with them I get a nice discount. I have no accidents or tickets on my record. It's about $50 a month with $50,000 total loss and $1,000 deductible. If you are planning to buy a 355 obviously the total loss should be higher and so the monthly premium would follow but i don't think that much more. I hope this gives you an idea.
I have a 355 insured with Grundy, No deductable for comp. or collisioin, unlimited mileage, towing up to $250 and it is an agreed value policy for $65,000. I pay $900/year. The important thing to remember, is that with regular companies, State farm, Allstate, etc. they sell stated value policies, not agreed value policies. Stated value policies means that in the event of a total loss (totaled car, stolen) they will pay you essentialy what they feel the car was worth - not necesarily it's true value. So with an agreed value policy both you the owner and the insurance co. have agreed up front what the value is and this is what you are paying for (ie the premiums are based on the value the owner has assigned to his/her car). So if the car is stolen, they write you a check - no BS.
