    First the background.... I've had my GTS for a little over 25 years. In the past, whenever I went out for a drive, I never knew just how or when I was going to return. Invariably it would stall and not get started for quite some time. A couple of times I'd need a flatbed ride home. One time my son and i pushed it the 1+ mile home. It got to the point that if I went anywhere my wife wouldn't say when are you going to be back. It was "do you have your AAA card and your cell phone?" Ouch!

    In the last couple of years the entire drivetrain has been rebuilt and the car is now reliable and more importantly, fun. We don't hesitate to take it out for any little excuse. This brings up the question... What do you carry in your trunk in the way of emergency, just in case, supplies? Obviously one can't stop in at the local O'Reilly Auto Parts store and pick up what you need. So....?

    A big ass fire extinguisher (in addition to the cute little Halon can in the cockpit).

    Ok, good. Got the Halon next to me in the cabin. Yeah, a big ass extinguisher is a good idea. Any type to look for or to avoid?

    No fire extinguishers in the trunk but 3 halon in the cockpit, fire erupts fast and the trunk is too far.

    In the trunk I have a kit of spare parts;
    - spare accelerator cable, blister pack of fuses in various fuse box sizes, spare alternator, alternator belt, alternator 60Amp fuse, ignition contacts (Bosch set behind Neiman key), variety hose clamp set.
    All from past experiences I've had or seen by other Dino owners
    Also tools, duct tape, and distilled water

    Accelerator cable, alternator belt, duct tape, tools, jubilee clips, cable ties, 5 Litres of petrol, and a big cushion so that my wife can reach the steering wheel in case she wants to drive.

    My main comfort is the breakdown cover phone number with the fire ext in the glove box.

    I did breakdown in mid France recently though with electrical failure, and after checking the obvious was about to call a flat bed, but then thought that I would try a quick phone call to Rodger Collingwood from the Ferrari Centre in Kent in the UK, who look after my car. After telling me to check what I had already checked my heart sank as I hung up, knowing my wife was about to say the inevitiable 'I told you we should have brought a newer car'.
    Rodger rang back 2 mins later though, check the connections at the back of the ignition switch................ one spade connector reconnected and away we went. An otherwise trouble free 1300 miles in a week on French back roads continued - motoring nirvana.
    So a vote for a Rodger Collingwood in the boot.
