Don't take offense, but I edited your quote to what I believe you are asking.

The reason for the fire suppresion system is because the F40 and other cars, can in certain situations, be at risk to fire starting, if there is a fault in fuel lines or oil lines, exposed to the heat of the engine/exhaust manifolds.

My old SS track car had a fire system in it, because we raced for extended periods/events, and it was required/rules for that class of racing.

The reason for using halon (now CO2 instead) instead of a water/foam/powder based type fire extinguishant, is due to the immediate delivery under a pressurized gasious system, also the water/powder based extinguishers can potentially cause damage to certain materials, including wiring and electronic components. Also a halon or CO2 system can not be used in the cabin, due to health hazard (suffocation) but is ideal for the engine compartment. Halon stopped being used a few years ago now.

I would search out a good quality racing shop near you, that deals with building or setting up race cars, and also installing fire systems. Contact your local race track, they will know of the better quality local shops. Then you can ask about having the system changed & updated, with the bottle moved, so it can accomodate your wife and still be functional.

    Hope that helps.

thanks I undestain in your opinion is better to install this kits in our cars, in reality are cheaper,s, the increase of the wheitg is not important, my only problem is the situation in the area of the passager seat, I can find with my ferrari dealer a solution, for the moment I have a good fire insurance............
    thanks again

the dealer may not have the experience for installing of a fire suppresion system, like a race shop would.....there are also smaller systems, like a 2 nozzle foam system, whichis more compact.....even with good insurance, it would be sad to see an accident occur that could be prevented.....as the saying goes "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure"
