What do you think it will cost?

    To repaint the roof (GTB) and engine hood on a 76 Steel car. Its metallic Morrone, and there will be (ok pretty much sure) some sanding down to filler or bare steel. Then primer/ color. I have been getting quotes around $4K. Sounds about right?

    PS. I'm in North Jerszey if anyone has some ideas?

    If your car has original or old paint they may have a really hard time matching it. They used to paint with laquer and once touched you can't really blend it or match it. I just painted my car (77 308 GTB) and the one area that had alot of work was the hood. It's aluminum and has a tendency to bend and get really chewed up on paint removal. Mine also had a stress tear near a corner. I ended up stripping the entire car back down to metal.

    In my opinion, the 4k is better spent on the running gear unless it's covered by insurance.
