I am looking at a 1999 Red / Tan Coupe F1 completely original. Pretty Much flawless outside of a few stone chips. All records has had the following done in the last 300 miles

Full 30k Service including Belts / Tensioners, etc
    Brake flush
    New F1 pump
    New Tires
    A/C service

Clutch is showing 45% left and brakes are at about 50% Remaining on the pads and 30% on the Rotors

It has the programming upgrades from the post 2002 cars

It has all documentation, manuals, multiple keys and FOB's, its turnkey

Assuming the above - which i have verified. What is a good offer price range. I am ready to buy a 360 and it would be cash in hand

    Please advise

What is the mileage? Daytona seats and factory shields?

    Sorry, stupid omission

16k miles and yes it has the shields but not the daytona seats akthought the seats are very nice with a red contrast around the tan edges

75K at retail if it is a prime example, although maybe a couple K less because the clutch is already more than half gone. I am a firm believer a well sorted red/tan car should command a premium. I am bias though :)

This would be a private party purchase where i have verified all service history with the local Ferrari Dealer up to the most recent service in March which is 3 months and 300 miles ago. I was thinking 70-72, does that sound right. I dont mean an "ok" price, but a yes this is a great price for a well sorted example as described

For a well sorted car, I'd say 80K assuming the belts are truly new. 300 miles could mean last month or 3 years ago.

I think that ^^^^ is a good target. I would say a great buy if the clutch wasn't so far gone. There have been some notes in here that the readings aren't always spot on either so are you really at 35% remaining? I do not know the validity of the error claims though. Do check and verify on the timing of the last belts/tensioners because that will set you back a bit if coming up on 3 years.

OK great, please keep the feedback coming. The belt service was almost exactly one year ago

I think you are about on target. How are the tires? I think if you can get it around 70 you did pretty good. That's assuming everything is good.

I got my 00 yellow with black interior, shields, power daytona seats, F1 17,900 miles, new tires, new belt change and clutch at 65% remaining for $73,200. All campaigns were performed. Service history was good but not perfect.

Don't take this question as me trying to find a problem - I am also learning what to look for when shopping for these cars.

Do you need to worry about the variators on that year car, and be assured that they have been upgraded?

Also, I see this a lot. They do the "30K service" at a mileage interval far lower than 30K miles -- is this unusual or do owners simply cut the factory recommended interval in half out of caution?

Yes you need to verify variators are done.

I'd say based on mileage and clutch and brake wear around $70k $72k as a private sale. Dealer would likely charge upward of $77k. If you have verified all service history with the dealer they should have let you know that all recalls and campaigns had been carried out. IMO the 99 is more desirable because of no pre-cats to cause issues down the road. When you said "programming updates from post 2002 cars" did you mean the TCU as I'm not aware of any other updates. If the TCU then it would have had to be swapped out as the 1999 cannot be updated -- you need to confirm that. Also was the F1 pump replaced because of a sticking relay or some other issues? I would have thought that a 30k (or 3 year service) would have included transmission oil change, coolant change and power steering fluid change -- that was done at my last major service that included engine oil and filter as well as brake fluid flush.

That's probably nearer the mark. That's in the range of what I paid for mine but it did have the major (and I mean major) and a new clutch but higher mileage. A new clutch in a few years is going to be a big expense.

I sold a really nice yellow/black f1, 15k miles, new belts, needing a clutch for $65. The clutch runs around $7k

Ok that is great info guys, thanks!! The indy mechanic here replaces the clutch for $3500 unless it needs another part too (cant recall the name of it, he said it doesnt always need it but is it does then it goes up to about $4700 total).

I am not emotionally attached to anything until i actually own it so hopefully tomorrow it is what i think it is and then i have a number i am comfortable with knowing its a local car that is exactly what i have been looking for (except i would have preferred a non F1 car). If the price is too steep then i will just walk away and keep looking as that is a lot of fun in itself.

65k does seem very low for a fully documented and up to date on service car though. 70k to me would seem to be an outstanding buy, am i off base. I am not interested in overpaying. I will sell my Mercedes SL this week for what i paid for it 2.5 years ago because i bought it right, i want to ensure i do the same here (meaning i bought it right not that i will not have depreciation, i realize this car is still on a depreciation curve regradless but i'd like to get a little ahead of it if possible)

    Please keep the feedback coming

It's a bit of an odd market. The dealers usually hit sellers around the $50k mark and then they ask $75. Granted they generally have a high overhead, recondition the car, etc. Right in the middle is $6x,xxx

I've seen the red get a bit of premium over the yellow's. That's one reason I bought a yellow.

I went and bought it today. it really was about as close to mint as you can get and literally had a storybook put together of records fromt he window sticker to current and was flawless. We settled at 74k and i am more than happy. I wanted red/tan, documents and totally stock and zero mods. Its perfect for me. Maybe i could have looked all over the country for a year and saved a grand or two but that is time travel and money. I picked it up today, put 200 miles on it and am taking my 5 year old to cars and coffe in the morning in Irvine CA

I found it on ebay, here it is, post other pics later

Love that interior. I think you paid a premium but for the mileage, condition, optional extras such as red caliper and the Challenge grille, as well as the full history with all the keys, fobs, codes, and trunk items you got a great car.
