Long story short, I think I screwed up the alignment in the right side of my jaw- I heard a pop a few days ago and ever since I feel like I'm almost developing an over bite, it hurts a bit, and seems to be a bit swollen..

Not sure whether to go to a real doctor or a dentist?

    Any advice?

Would recommend an oral surgeon or ENT.

You need to go see a dentist that specializes in TMJ, or more specifically TMD (Temporomandibular disorder).

Hopefully he will use a myomonitor and find what position your jaw is most relaxed in. If he has a K7, that's a bonus. Treatment will likely involve muscle relaxants and possible splint therapy.

If that doesn't work, they may have to amputate from the neck up.
