I am shopping around for a clean 348 or 355. I hear all the time that the car must have a full service record for it to be worth purchasing. Two questions:

    1) What does this mean and what do I look out for (sans the engine out service, I understand this). What kind of documentation should the car have

    2) How critical do you all think this is - do you need 100% of the service record, for the life of the car? Would the last few years be sufficied (if there has been an engine out service done in there.)

    Thanks for the help!

I have hear of "stamps in a book" or something to this effect. Is there a service manual that has to have the documentation (something provided with the car) or is simple print outs from the dealer acceptable?

I know I'm a little over the top. When I sold my 360 to a fellow F-chatter, I provided every receipt of everything that was spent on the car. This included copies of every gas receipt so the new owner could do MPG differencials, oil useage, waxes used etc. Then the Ferrari service receipts were assembled in a group to document everything mechanical.

Thank you all - This helps clarify. The seller had a nice three ring binder that had print outs our all the service done. Thanks for clarifying that this is sufficient.

    Cheers,

When looking at a car remember that they recommend the 30k service every 5 years so check the dates on the receipts.

My 456 came with the receipt for every single time it was in the shop, starting with the pre-delivery inspection. I have continued that since I've owned it.

That is what I would call a "Full Service Record."
