They are compassionate and experienced about Ferraris and Ferrari owners.
My story begins the first day of the Ferrari Club of America annual meet in Savannah, Georgia. I had been planning for this day for 6 months; I had entered my car to compete in the track events all three days and planned to show and finally drive in the rally. I also entered my car for the Ed Gilbertson Award. That morning, I woke up and noticed a pool of oil leaking from my car under the rear end. I immidiately called Karl Troy and after an agonizing series of questions and answers we decided to have a carrier come down from Charleston and transport my car back to Karl's shop. He was able to diagnose the problem later on that day-a broken rear man seal, plus my F1 tranny was leaking. Not to mention, the clutch got wet and slave bearings were in need of replacing. My first national Ferrari Club meet was over before it even started! In anguish, I couldn't even bear to go to the first day's events.
The following day, Thursday, I volunteered to help track security so I went and watched the cars race one by one, wishing that I could be in one of them.
On Friday, Karl called and said the parts should be arriving but he didn't think my car would be ready for the meet. I told him I understood. Meanwhile, I had been talking with David Scott in the pits telling him how bummed I was. He offered his car, #27, to drive during the next session. Now what quailifies a person to be a car club President-? Preside over meetings and welcome people to the club? With David, being President means that he's going to make sure everyone is taken care of regardless of the issue. He took care of me that day and I will never forget it. By the way, I did eight great laps, then spun the car in Turn 10. I did not hit anything, but for a moment I was horrified I may wreck the Pres' Ferrari!!
Friday night after the awards banquet I was falling alseep. At 11:30 P.M. the phone rang. It was David Scott callimng me from the lobby. He wanted me to come down-he said it was very important-so reluctantly I got dressed. When I arrived in the lobby there was David standing beside Karl Troy. They both turned and pointed outside the main lobby to a red 360. Low and behold, it was my car! Karl and his techs had been working day and night to repair my car and after finishing at 9pm, they made a 2hr trip to Savannah so I could still enter it in Saturday's show. Karl had repaired the rear main seal, placed a new clutch and slave bearings, and completed F1 tranny work. Turns out that David and Karl had been in communication and wanted to help a club member. My whole life I've had great friends, but these 2 guys take the cake. I will forever be indebted to them. I didn't win any honors in the show but that was ok--I got to see my car parked beside other beautiful Ferraris. David and Karl's enthusiasm and dedication to the FCA and its members are exemplary. Club Presisdents from othe states should follow David's lead and other foreign car shoppes ought to bow down to Karl. He and his techs at European Road and Racing rule, all others drool!

GC, thank you for the opportunity to let us take care of you and your car again. I wish we could have salvaged more of the weekend for you but at least not all was lost. You do not live around the corner and it takes an effort to get the car to us every time.
Thanks for providing Ben and myself with a room that night so we could catch up on our sleep.
As far as David is concerned, we all know him to well. A great ambassador for the Ferrari Club and it's members. He also was kind enough to provide me and my children with a place to stay at Hilton Head when we came down wednesday to instruct the Challenge drivers for their comp. license.
The people and the cars make all the difference.
    Thank you for everything.

    Karl Troy

Karl is not just a mechanic...he's an expert and what he does, and that includes customer service. I'm lucky to have him service my 308, and proud to have him as a friend.

Your story is exactly why I (well - we... Darshana too) are honored to be members of such a fantastic club and group of people. There's a lot more than Southern charm going on down here and David & Karl are poster children of the goodness that prevails.

    Hats off to ya, guys!!

    Cheers & C U @ d'Track!!

That's the thing - with these guys you do. Karl has always gone out of his way to help. This is not the first time he's spent a weekend or even a holiday working on a friend's car to salvage their trip after a problem. And David's resources and dynamicism in a crisis is like having Ferrari AAA and a 5-star concierge all wrapped up. These are definitely guys you want in your corner! Well done, guys.
