Lead miniatures - solders and the like. Stamps - although the collection hasn't grown much since the 70's. I was hoping a kid might get interested. Geez, was I wrong. Batman comics. I have about 80% of them, as old as a #4. 1, 2, 3 are just way too expensive. Models of cars I have owned. buy 'em, build 'em, let 'em collect a little dust. And, of course.. Cars, but not brutally expensive ones, just ones that are fun to drive. I just emptied the driveway, sold the 911, and the TR6, and am contemplating the next car (other than the inbound Dino). I like to buy stuff that I can fiddle with, car wise, that is.
I don't collect toys at all, but I do have one of these, in the box with all accessories and will entertain offers if anyone's interested.
WoW!!!! That is cool! I thought I was the only one and most people would think I was weird but I guess everyone has a bit of a child in them. I also have alot of 70's vintage monogram and Revell car models, still in the plastic shrink wrap. I guess the collecting phase never runs out, cuz obviously we all like to or would like to collect real automobiles!^_^
I collect wallet sized photos of Benjamin Franklin. Any donations to my collection will gladly be accepted. As for GI Joe, I still have the Mercury Space capsule and astronaut GI Joe from Christmas 1964/5 if memory serves me correctly. (with matching flotation coller, life raft and oars.) I also remember getting the scuba divers outfit but after a few years, the outfit started to dissolve like an old rubber band. No additions to the GI Joe collection since around 1966.
I collect Model aircraft engines, got about 900 of them. I didn't start out "collecting" them just bought ones I wanted to use, somewhere along the way I realised that I had way more engines than I could possibly use in my lifetime. Still hasn't stopped me though, here's one of my latest aquistitions, a 1/12 De Havilland Cirrus engine, 2cc four stroke, about 3" long weighs 2/12 oz and revs to 11,000rpm This one I will build a model for...
SeaShells and Corgi toys. Funny how somethings that gets started at age 7 can stick with you forever.
But I don't collect them, I just still have them. I collect Zippos. My first was my grandfathers. He helped to found Southwest Airlines. It's a Southwest Airlines Zippo and was given to him after he retired. There is a model plane of the real Plane they flew with his name on it (Donald G. Ogden). My second fav is the Craps table Zippo I got from Vegas. (Theres no other place it so much fun to loss so much money.) My friend collects 1:18 Diecast Cars but most of the one he has I have gotten for him for B-Days and Christmas.
Now that is a cool thing to collect!! You must have quite the investment there!! Those engines can be expensive. Do you buy them in kit form or do you buy them ready to run? I think miniature engines are really neat. i would like to get one of those V8 ones but they are much to expensive for me to buy right now.
Well I'm not to good with the computer. You know, resize/post. But I can list them The yellow coupe from Amer. Graf. signed by Paul Lematt (John Milner in the movie), A dragster signed by Don Garlits, A Shelby Ser 1 signed by Carroll Shelby, A Boss 302 Mustang signed by larry Shinoda who designed the Boss 302, NASCAR signed by Richard Petty, 4 "Sox and Martin cars (Drag race team from 60s-70s) signed by Ronnir Sox also have a documented REAL front wheel off Don Garlits last dragster engraved with the car #, the et and the top speed signed by Don in his shop in Fla. Another trinket I have in the collection is a keyring fom the 60s with the Cobra emblem on one side and on the other side it has the original address where Cobras were produced saying postage/ drop in mail etc.
Mark a Quigley rifle, thats really cool. I don't get to do it to much but I love long range rifle shooting, so for me the movie was great. Not to mention a TS fan.
Not worth that much as most of them are single cylinder two stroke racing and speed engines worth $1-200 not multi cylinder scale four strokes like the one above. Of the 900 engines I only have 15 multis with the biggest (and most expensive) being the 40cc water cooled V8 below, it cost about $2000 direct from the manufacturer in Russia and is a beautiful piece of engineering, The next most expensive is a very specialised speed engine I use in the world championship class worth about $1600 and in the right hands will do 300km/h+ , sounds great when it comes on the pipe at 41,000rpm
Man! Some of these collections are really cool! That is awesome! I also have some old cameras that my dad used to use in the 50's-60's that I will always cherish. They are a German brand named CONTAX and still takes AWESOME pictures!
I'm collecting money, that is, trying to.... Since I am also the proud owner of a mid seventies F car, up to now I am failing miserably.
I have a small collection of coffee mugs from TV talk shows that I've appeared on -- maybe 50 of them. Not worth anything to anybody. Most have never even had coffee in them. They're on the back of a bottom shelf in a book case so I doubt that anyone other than my wife knows that I have them.
I collect 1800s microscopes, clocks, & some die cast models. 1st G Star Trek stuff & autographs. Have photographed Nemoy twice.
I have a bunch of 3d star trek G1 stuff, if you'd like some, let me know. I have if from a customer who went broke before we finished the project.
Hi- This is my first post here on Ferrari chat. I just joined after having purchased a Silver Metallic/Red and Black 308. Anyway, many people find it quite strange, but I collect military artifacts from the World Wars. I have a few pretty interestesting things, if any one is interested, I'll post some pictures of what i have in my collection. Any other Ferrari/Porsche/other exotic owners near Richmond, VA? Regards, Vincent
SilverF1Modena, I see that you collect vintage skateboards. I do too. Do you have any Alvas, Dogtowns, or Z-Flexs?
I collect Jesus fans. If you did not grow up in the south pre-air conditioner years, you may never have seen these. The old folks would sit in church and fan their faces. Lots of fanciful bible scenes and bucolic pics of Jesus with lambs and kids and things. They are little cardboard squares stapled to wooden sticks. Memories of a simpler time... It probably is the least valuable collection in the world as most of the fans are worth absolutely nothing and a few a buck or two (maybe). It was a relief after collecting original Audubon prints (Havells, Biens and Quadrapeds) for several years with prices in the multiple thousands.
Match books I blew up all of my GI Joes with serious fireworks during one last damn beautiful battle. Everyone died
oddly enough, i have the old school dolls that are barbie size with beards, a helicopter, and my prized possession, a gi joe footlocker. aside from that i did collect living barbies and lots of old tour de france stage winning bikes, plus traffic citations. now i collect dust...
I collect everything. Muscle cars (big ones) Thousands of Hot wheels, Corgis, no Johnny lightnings BMX bikes, redline in particular Schwinn Stingrays and Schwinns in general Wood Water Skis Steering wheels, including many Ferrari ones including N.O.S. Old skateboards, Maherajah, Banzai, 70's stuff. 70's memorabilia. Autograph pic of Vanilla Ice Gold Record from Cheap Trick, autograph poster of Snake and Mongoose, Evel Knievel toothbrush, lunchbox, bike seat blah blah blah My very best objet d'art is a gift from my brother: A 4 foot tall Plastic store display for selling the Aurora Batmobile Model. All this stuff I am required to keep at my office. At home I collect Western art, and am very proud of having the kid's hallway lined with detailed and interesting paintings hung 36 inches off the floor.
