Is it an abbreviation? Roman numerals for 20? X for unlimited or something like that? Thanks so far, Jens
The Enzo is officially the F60 and the Enzo modificato has no designation so the F60 Modificato is FXX. In other words, XX is 60 with the numbers crossed or "X'd" out.
IIRC the Enzo's codename was FX so I guess they called it FXX because it is a derivative of the Enzo.
I read somewhere that the FXX was named this way because the Enzo was internally named FX. So they named it FXX to show it was twice an Enzo or something along those lines.
When will people ever learn that what the media says is not always true There was a one off car made called the FX. Yes the Ferrari Enzo Ferrari full name BTW was codenamed FX by Ferrari so the natural progression would be FXX.
In the book "フェラーリと鉄瓶" Ken Okuyama wrote that Enzo Ferrari project was started to create the Ferrari 55th anniversary car.
In general, I would venture a guess that FX <- enzo codename, ... then the FXX... the additional X moniker denotes experimental However, when comparing the MC12 vs. the MC12 Corsa (or is it MCC?) Maseratti Competizion Corsa? yeah... i may be just blowing wind.
The FX was not a "one-off" project. I believe 7 of them were built, all but one of them went to the Brunei for the Sultan and his brother. Dick Marconi (Marconi Museum) has the only other one.
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia XX may refer to: 20 (number), or 20 AD, XX in Roman Numerals XX chromosomes, see XY sex-determination system Dos Equis ("Two Xs"), a brand of Mexican beer "XX" (CSI episode), the seventeenth episode in the fourth season of CSI XX Angel Rabbie, an alternative title of Tenbatsu! No, the 360 is internally known as the F131, and the F430 the F131 Evo. Internally the Enzo was known as the FX (unrelated to the similarly named Sultan of Brunei car) and so they just added another X to it. I believe for experimental. The Enzo is not the F60 for the millionth time.
Its eXperimentale when the Enzo was launched in 2002 it was named FX or ferrari experimentale, so does the ferrari of the sultan, the reason of this, is because they have features previously unseen in other ferraris, and features that we will have in near future, since the FXX is an evolution of the enzo, wich is codenamed FX, so the name is FX Experimentale, o FXX...
