What does it cost to rent some place nice for a wedding? Like a hotel or an old inn to hold the ceremony at?

And, no. I am not asking for myself!

Where? That will be the biggest factor.

In SoCal, if you say wedding, they just add a zero at the end, but I can't imagine this is the case everywhere....

Whereabouts? I bet NC prices are a little lower than NYC.

John, tell your freind to do it Italian style, he'll make large.

But he needs to invite Italians to the wedding.

In Ontario here, we (I) got married in 94, about 400 people, hall only with 7 course meal and pig, and dessert table at midnight was $72 per person. Today, need 110-120 per person.

This does not include flowers, limos, grease the church, tux, the rings, and the damn dress.

Tell your freind to elope !!

I was recently the best man on July 3rd at a wedding that cost $78 p/p. The date was undesirable so the couple received several discounts, in June the same wedding would have been $120 p/p. June and September are the most expensive months for weddings, especially Saturday weddings.

I got married this past May on a Saturday night. It was a nice place in Point Pleasant, NJ, ~250 people, approx. $100-120 per head (I don't remember off the top of my head).

That's just the tip of the iceberg in terms of costs, as mentioned earlier.

    A) Whatever the bride's family is willing to spend!
    2) If A does not apply: Go down to the courthouse and let them do it. There's no blood test or waiting period in TN. Spend the money you save on the honeymoon, convince fiancee eloping is "romantic!"

I read in a magazine in 01 that the avg wedding in the US cost $23k. We did a "garden" reception in the in-laws big yard/deck/garden and spent about $7k. Catered food and flowers, but no DJ/band.

I couldn't imagine spending much more than that, looking back on it. I have a friend who's parents/inlaws offered $10k and $6k cash, respectively if they would have no big shindig but a simple ceremony and a dinner at a decent restaurant. They went cheap on the party but paid their tuition, got furniture and a car with it. THAT would be the way to go!

The bad thing about mine was that I had to pay for it myself. The good thing was that I had to pay for it myself, which meant we could do whatever we wanted and nobody had a thing to say about it. We decided to hold the entire affair in Cabo and not only was it incredible, the equivelant wedding in Chicago would have cost 3X as much, easily. Our photographer cost $1500, and two days after the ceremony we had all our pictures, in an album, plus the negatives! If I ever do it again, I won't change a thing!

Typical Italian weddings in Montreal start at 30K (in Canadia greenbacks).

....and keep in mind...I got married TWICE!!!

Got a good gun store in your burg? It would add to the mystique of a crazy dad who quit being a doctor to go work at a gun store. Any lads with less-than-honorable intentions might think twice if they know her dad is the crazy gun store guy.

'Course, your daugters eloping with sleazebags might avoid the megabucks weddings...
