When I get one in my garage I cant imagine that I would ever be caught just staring at the emblem. Image Unavailable, Please Login
There are multiple variations of the Ferrari Nose Badge, over the years....and they want you to be satisfied with the one you are getting!!! LOL!
I was gazing at mine last night but only because I am getting ready to cut the damaged nose off the car!!! I think the badge itself is OKAY!!!!!!
Thanks for the reply Big Tex! Didnt know that there were different versions of this little honey of a badge? I would try to use the badges as a tell tale to the level of detailing by the lack of wax buildup in the tight spots but it seems this pic is often included so I had to ask.
Yes, the badges did change a bit. Mostly the design in the dots/markings of the horse ... Its hard to find the earlier ones - I had been looking - but, recently I decided to leave mine as is. Mine is not bad at all and its sort of a birthmark ... felt weird changing the nose badge as it seems "related" to the car ;-)
I'm with Mike (76Steel).. I've stared at it many..many times, hell I've even polished the outside ring too. (in the scary voice say) Don't stare to loong into the emblem, it will put you into a tranze, HAHAHAHAHA.....
It is a good barometer to care care...there could be rust or crud developing around it if a car isn't taken care of properly. If the paint around it still looks new, chances are the car was detailed properly on a regular basis.
Well the pic is kinda nice. The only thing that would make it better is if it were my knuckles in the silhouette!
Oh, good grief! I bought one from an owner that took them all off the car to wax it, they all rattle around loose, like the tailights, from so much abuse!! It would also be an error, IMO only to take an old style badge off if not replaceing it with EXACTLY the same thing....but whatever makes you happy is what it's all about... I told ya'll there's a very early steel NON CAT car sitting in the Shop next to my #22127???? Probably could be knocked loose, with some hard pursuit of the Owner....
I stare at mine all the time........... It is the object of my love and worship......... Image Unavailable, Please Login
+1 .... 2 1/2 years and smiling all the way..... even my neighbors stare...!! After all... you know you want to look !!
The emblem change occurred around the mid-late 1980s. New post-1989 emblems can be bought everywhere for $100. The pre-1989 badges, however, are Very Rare and command $350 or more....be careful what you're buying if you're replacing the nose badge on your 308. Any concourse judge would nab you in a second if you replaced an earlier one with a later one - I found the design changes to be rather obvious.
Does anyone have side by side comparison photos of new and old? I want to say that new ones have a silver outline around the horse whereas the old ones do not. However, I don't know for sure.
Yes, a chatter just took his old one off and put a new one on.....not sure one of the 'fix up" threads.... viper_driver?? I'm too kind to you guys!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
So then the top one is the older type? I'm just guessing the lower one looks more modern. Or really, "less old" in it's style. More bold.
