I was just looking at some of my evo car magazines realizing how cool their jobs are. Fly from Britian to wherever to pick up a new Ferrari/Lamborghini/Porsche/Aston Martin/Anyother exotic, then go drive the crap out of it for a couple days (maybe on a race course or some deserted curvy road) then analyze the car, give pros and cons etc....then recieve a paycheck.

    Hmmmmmm....where do I sign up? :p

Anyone know what it takes to be one?

Even better, anybody on F-chat a car journalist or know someone who is?

Car and Driver writers - engineers? They same guys who can never figure out the Nav systems?

I say you would be best off trying to establish your name in some other way - racing, designing, founding illegal coast-to-coast rallies, etc. Even if you don't succeed in that respect, maybe you'll learn enough to blow the editor's socks off if you ever get an interview. Either way, I agree 100% - that's got to be the easiest and most rewarding job I can imagine.

David Yu from Evo is on here too - I think his name on here is Godzilla.

A mate of mine writes for Evo, and you're right, he gets to do some amazing stuff. He was at the Murci launch, did a group test on the Enzo/F50/F40/288 and drove a Bugatti to Le Mans (returning in the Enzo) to name a few.

He has a blast but from what I gather, the pay is truly crap for the first few years.

However, given a choice, I think I would rather be doing something I love than something I am indifferent about that pays well.

    All the best

Thats true. I think his name on here is Simon355.

However, I dont think Simon is a journo by profession, I think he was approached to add his car to the long-term fleet when he bought his (legendary) Orange Murcie.
