And after you get the privilege, can it be taken away for some reason?

How long depends on the model you want and how many people are ahead of you at your local dealer. There is no magic number.

Helps to buy a couple used and show a little loyalty to one dealer.

Also true. But, if you walked in asking to buy an FF vs an F12, you'll probably get one pretty quickly and the other be told to come back in 2 years.

F12? Really? I would have thought those with the means would be lining up for them. The FF doesn't come as a surprise though. Couple now at FOW. Really not growing on me. Probably never will.

No, I mean an F12 is a two year wait and the FF can be purchased rather quickly.

It depends on what model you want to buy. You can't answer this question with a generic "Ferrari".

Well a friend was told that he needs to buy a used car first the trade it in on a new one. He went next door and bought a Lamborghini. Is this the case with every dealer? Or does it depend on the model you want such as California vs F12?

What does it take to buy a Ferrari: Money!
What does it take to keep a Ferrari: More Money!
What does it take to prevent it being taken away from you: a light throttle foot!

How long does it take to obtain a new one: about 2 years from order to delivery. California and one of the V12 have shorter waits.
How long does it take to obtain a slightly used one: about 2 days to accumulate the money into a cashier's check. (That is if you can accept the exterior color and interrior appointments.)

Lamborghini generally has inventory sitting around. Ferraris are generally built to order. Thus, if you want to walk out the door with a new one 15 minutes after walking in, a Lamborghini is generally a better choice.

Of course, there may be a reason why there are lots of unsold Lamborghinis sitting around....

It can depend somewhat on which dealership is in your area.
Nzk, what part of the country (or world) do you live in?

In general, the ability to buy a new Ferrari is based on the combination of having the money and communicating how passionate you are to get one.

This will get you on the new car waiting list.
Depending on the Ferrari model and how well the economy is doing, sometimes the waiting list is only 6 - 12 months long and sometimes it is up to 5 years long.

But to get near the FRONT of the waiting list, that is where you need to have an established relationship with the dealership.
It is human nature to want to take care of the local customers that have shown the most loyalty by being repeat buyers over the years.

I'm pretty sure today, if you have the $$$ right now, you 'll get a car. they are making tons of these cars... if you want an Enzo like special edition ... you might have to have a "relationship" but really its all about $$$$$$$$$
