""The 31-year-old Italian is leaving Sauber at the end of this season, replacing Jarno Trulli at Renault. Fisichella has 139 GP starts up to date, with only one victory at the 2003 Brazilian GP.
"You see a lot of drivers with fantastic talent -- Jean Alesi was like that -- but they never develop it," said Flavio of the Frenchman who left F1 in 2001 with 201 races and only one win.
Briatore believes that the next two years is pivotal in the Italian's career, in which he has the last chance to develop his talent before he is forgotten from F1 history.
"Well, I think Fisichella still has the chance to do that and I think he understands he must, because it's the last ditch for him, isn't it?
"If he misses this train, in three years nobody will remember him -- because he's done nothing. Absolutely nothing.
"He has two years to make sure people remember Fisichella in F1 -- if not, he's history.""

This is the new driver for his team right? It seems completely opposite from usual comments made in this situation about a new driver.

I've always thought the firing of Trulli smelled of dirty tricks. Using the reason of losing a third place in the home race, after the guy won the most prestigious race of the year from pole didn't make any sense. Meanwhile the wonder boy (Alonso) has tasted gravel or guardrails while in the points often this year.

Does Briatore love or hate Trulli, how does he feel about Fisichella? Is it reverse psychology, or is this entire situation some sort of posturing for 2006-07?

I think Briatore is simply trying to motivate somebody that lacks motivation.

Both Fisi's and Trulli's careers have suffered because they have not grown in their roles ... due to lacking that internal hunger like those like MS have. They need constant ego pumping to make them perform ... MS does not.

Motorracing as we all know, requires supreme confidence in ones self to get that last 1/100th of a second per lap ... if you need your ego pumping up, you should not be in a F1 car IMO.

Fisi will not rise, he has had many chances and yes he is fast consistent driver but not a star ... Trulli is simply average, win or no win at Monaco.

    Pete's opinion ;)

I think if you can cut through the Flabbio-speak, there's quite a bit of truth to what he said. He's never been one to coddle, and he doesn't seem to possess what most would call a compassionate character. It's his way of not only telling it like it is, but at the same time paying his team a compliment by implying Fisi will have the necessary tools to finally show whether or not he can accomplish something.

Flabbio is a jerk, not as complete as Frank or Ron. He had Heidi pregnant, was shtupping teenager next door...very poor judgement, here's evidence:

Damn photos won't write to db...grrrr sorry

I agree with Flavio's comments wrt Fisi. Fisi needs to make the best of his opportunities. He is not a spring chicken anymore. Hope his phenom talent will shine thru with a couple of wins
