You know, a lot of folks on this board have very self explanatory user names: mine: mdstrib from my name, Michael D Stribling Dr.TAX: a Ph.D in accting. But there are some very cryptic user names as well, like :Chaa, Dr Strangelove, LAfun2 and many others. Anybody want to tell what's behind their user name? (Remember, I told you this was boring)
Lol, yes I am bored, thus I clicked on the topic. Also I usually like reading your posts, so you have me hooked. I feel honored to be mentioned, even though it is such a boring topic I don't know if you mentioned me because I post so much, and you can't ignore it, or you are actually interested. LOL. I will give it a shot either way. My explanation: About 7 years ago when I was thinking of a name for my yahoo account, I just used my first+last name. Thus everybody would ask me if that was my real last name, on every single email! Some other people wouldn't take me as seriously because they would see my email address as a joke. So I decided it was time to get a more non descript name. I lived in Los Angeles for many years, and thus wanted to use something from that. Thus LA was used. Everybody finds me rather boring (how appropriate for this thread ), because I like talking money, retirement, and life in the future, and thus don't have many friends. Since I don't drink and party much, you can imagine my dismal college life. So as a joke I added "fun" to my "LA." Thus we have LAFUN. Well someone already had a similarly brilliant idea, and that name on yahoo was taken. So I decided to go with LAFUN2, as suggested by yahoo. Thus my email was established. In order to remember my screen name on many boards I frequent, it was easier to have one name that I could always remember. Thus I use LAFUN2 on practically everyboard I visit. There is the story of my name. Most people still mispronounce it when they first talk to me on the phone. They usually say "laaa fun2." However, the correct pronounciation as I intended would be "El eh Fun2," so you are supposed to sound out the letters by themselves L.A. I think this is the most boring post I have ever personally written (I am sure some of you will disagree) on F chat. If you are still reading this, you reallyneed a life.
Eos = Greek for Dawn. I'm an Asimov fan and Eos is the capital on the planet Aurora in his universe. City of the Dawn on the Planet of the Dawn and all that good stuff. In short, go read Asimov.
Marcia Ball at a concert appearance for the Art Cars in the Astrodome signed my crash helment. I joking said my name was "Speedy" in the World's Fastest Art Car. So she signed it "To Speedy" in such beautiful flowing handwriting that I decided to keep the name. It works on the Ferrari Owner's Site, too. I don't post anywhere else. I'm just bored talking to Randall on the Berg thread!
it's an old nick that I used from various boards, bbs', and even irc through college. so... it's lasted me roughly 12 years now. eh... yea I guess I'll admit that one. it just means "shadow" in German. I stuck with it, after writing a short story called: die Leben ohne den Schatten (the life without a shadow). hope this helps!
You just HAVE to change it to Nasty Rooster and get the VooDoo Racing icon as your avatar! http://www.teamvoodoo.com/index.htm
What the heck are you doing in there?? You coming in thread automatically ruins the boringness (?) of this thread! All you want to talk about is fun things like hot chicks, fast cars, and road trips, and boobies. Leave now, and let us boring guys enjoy our moment in the sun
You're not boring, Ryan. Both you and Mike are some of my favorite posters here. Very interesting reads a lot of the time. -DC
Dude, that's awesome! Who are those guys? If I had photoshop skills, I'd make it say "Nasty Rooster" instead of Team Voodoo. Then I would consider a name change.
J as in the first letter of my name O as in Oregon which is nice and green. I like the color green R as in rode --as in I rode in a Ferrari F40 D as in David, who is my father A as in Archlute, which is an instrument I can play originating in the Renaissance N as in Newfoundland, which is in Canada, which is in the same country as Calgary, where I used to live for 2 years 747 as in the number of posts I had one day _ as in a visible line --symbolic of the barrier between me and my future Ferrari. 400 as in 4 with two zeros after it. The zeros look like two eyes that are looking over the 4. 4 standing for the 308 GT4 which I am going to buy in less than a year. Easy eh?
Thank you. Though I assure you I am rather boring, and you are mistaking my quantity of words used to make up for my lack of charm. Low blow. Hmm. Initially I thought you were a big fan of M. Jordan, and just like 747 airplanes.
Funny you should mention, I was going to pick one up for my Supra and have it engraved with the 6 spd. pattern, but I emailed the owner of the company, and he said they didn't make anything that would fit because of the reverse lock-out feature of the Supra's getrag. Argh! -DC
I'd get one for my 1991 Miata, but it would double the car's value, and I'm not about to put that kind of money in it. I might splurge and put new (summer) air in the tires...
Voodoo Bob, or just Bob Kreuger - good guy. He's the one that sells the knobs for the cars. Very low production in various Al and Ti spins. Just because *you think* it is for the Ferrari wanna-be, it actually isn't. They are counter sunk, and can be lighter or heavier depending on the kind of balance you want. Personally, I have a Ti countersunk shift knob. It works very well, especially with the bit of extra weight. Just... feels... right.
That's pretty funny. My username is pretty obvious. The first letter of my first name, the first letter of my middle name, and my last name. Ta da! I have been thinking about changing it because I use a different username for all the other forums that I am a member of.
