Hello , my friend and I are both newbies to the Ferrari world and have a serious question .. My friends 430 would not start . So we tried hooking up a new battery charger to it ,, without removing the battery from the car to give it a charge. he then placed the clamp on the negative and then positive and then Pow!! one of the screw's on the metal bracket that holds the battery in place caught on fire!! Luckily we caught it as soon as it happen and no harm was done....... funny thing is the charger was not powered on or was it even plugged in!! Any idea why this might of happened??
By touching the battery clamp you did effectively short the live to the chassis think about it, the clamp if secured to the chassis and it is made of steel surprised you haven't blown the main fuse if all appears to work OK you should be fine
Please excuse my ignorance.... As a Lady i am not to mechanically incline!! I just would like info so this would never happen to me, If my car becomes disabled.
