BTW, is there a statute of limations on how old a post can be to ban someone....I think there should be, unless its a major violation or the person has a history of being banned...

Depends what it is, might take awhile for it to be reported or a mod to see it. The longer it goes will change how it is dealt with. We're not going to make a new rule and retroactively ban everyone! In Sfumato's case I had received the proper notification of copyright infringements. This proper notice came in about a month after sfumato had posted the pictures. I didn't even look at the date when I went back to remove the pics and ban sfumato. As soon as sfumato nicely informed me how long ago these were posted, I reactivated him. My mistake. In most cases a user won't even get banned for copyright infringement, but I had thought sfumato had known specifically about the problems with this particular user and the threatened lawsuits.
Only thing I've heard so far is "Ferraris and bad luck". I only have good luck in my life with Ferrairs, but I can understand a little. I love snakes and always have, but every time I get back into collecting them I start having bad luck. I haven't owned a snake in over 8 years now, although I really miss them.

So why not simply ask me instead of banning me as a "Knee-jerk" reaction? I think you know I wouldn't do that! The dates cannot be changes. It had been three weeks. Now, I'm too.
I don't think rob or any of the mods have to explain a ban. They usually have a good reason for it. Now if the person banned calls you up because you are buddies and he is pissed that he got banned for no reason, then I think something like this is ok. So if Dane calls me, which I do not think will happen because I did not know that someone could not just walk onto a military base and help themselves to a crate of grenades. come on dane, you should have told me that!..
I have thought about "voluntary vacation", but that is yet another headache for me. We'll see, maybe I can get people to pay to stay away!
They need to explain, or warn. Both of my retracted bans had no warning, nada. I went to sign on, and zippo. Rossaholic evidently banned me, and never told me why, or what, or when. Rob and Wayne responded to my "WTF" emails, looked at my data, and unbanned me. Bans are learning tools/teaching tools. Like whacking an unruly pet on the nose. And most mods are fair. Or at least listen. I had no idea about "montana max"<-pseudonym for denizen of neighboring state. Rob realized that, and responded appropriately. I have posted 2400+ pics, and if any are edgy, they aren't intended to be. It is all in humor, mine is dark and ironic. Not hard to ask me to kill a few pics...I'll make more
I asked for a self-ban simply because I'm getting ready to go 'over yonder within the next couple of weeks. The whole F-car mess was becoming a distraction when my real focus needs to be getting my butt there and back in one piece. I decided to erase everything not linked to my real task at hand. That included F-chat. Sorry folks for not saying anything but I didn't think it would be this big of a deal! Yikes. Maybe, I'll really get banned for this. Talk to you in awhile. Wow, alright, overreaction... Did anyone else notice the guy's car got stolen like two weeks ago... he's definitely not the type to get banned, hence even me (who generally doesn't care) being curious what happened in light of everything going on around him. There are plenty of people who walk the line here constantly, when they get banned it's no surprise and warrants no comment / concern. Dane isn't one of them. And, considering his car was ganked by a drugged up low life who should be due for coming up on bail, I don't think it's out of the question that some of us ask what happened to him.
