What happened to EMI in Goose Creek?

Very interesting. Don't mean to hijack thread I'm a doctor Jim, not a lawyer...
Sounds like with towing there is a contract.. if you park here under these terms you will get towed and bailee has rights to the car under those terms.

Under repair contract it sounds like a mutual Bailment. Best thing that can happen is cops come and act as expert witness. Sounds like circumstances just prevented legal redress of the situation. Sounds like Karma is served.

When I showed up at EMI that particular day, they did allow us to get the books and other small items. We decided to let the car go instead of towing it away from them as it would have cost more than it was worth as a whole to piece it back together. Since they only made a few hundred dollars out of that outrageous bill they tried to pin on me, karma was served haha.

VRSurgeon: He decided to join the Air Force as some sort of airframe structural engineer, and is in Japan driving a Skyline right now- liking it a lot more than the Porsche.

My decision did not come easy and certainly wasn't my initial response or attitude towards Chris Felber and his family but after reading the front page article in this mornings Post and Courier, I have come to the conclusion that Chris needs a lot of people praying for him and I will start with that myself right now. They have done a lot of damage to many including me and my shop but it has become clear to me that he is quite misguided and needs help from above to hopefully turn his life around.

It is a Mechanic's Lien. Sometimes called a Laborer's lien. The shop has a lien for the
AGREED amount of the repairs. This is usually limited to the amount agreed in writing, though most states allow verbal alterations to the amount. Unethical dealers always claim this when holding a car. Unethical dealers will use this to their advantage.

That's why you have do deal with someone who will shoot you straight. That's why you go to Karl. He won't pull any shizz on you. He will charge you only for what you agreed or what is needed. He always calls you to let you know what is going on.

A bailment is when you voluntarily give your property to someone for safekeeping. A better example of a bailment is a valet service.

Hind-sight sure is 20/20. Until you're burned, you sometimes don't think to investigate.

You're right, Karl does have the right to boast...but we know it's just not his character to do so. I have never heard Karl wish ill will on anyone...even EMI who attacked his character. Karl always took the high road, and I'm very proud of him for that. Says a lot about his shop and him as a person. Bravo Karl, Bravo!

 

Thanks to this thread, I'm now aware of European Road and Racing and have made contact with Karl. So, I guess in a screwy way, the EMI debacle has resulted in a good thing. I know this is the beginning of a good, long, trusting relationship. As a matter of fact, I'm taking my 355 GTS down today for Exhaust work. And hopefully Karl will free up some space sometime soon in order to take on my 550 major

I can't wait!

 

Is there any update to this ongoing saga? Inquisitive minds in Florida would like to know...

Has anyone seen this eBay seller? Seems it could be some parts from EMI. 0% feedback and from Goose Creek? Look at the products. They still have Ricambi labels....

The seller claims its new in the item description text. Look at the pressure plate. Yikes.

Whoever it is, they're selling all our old stuff (very old Ricambi labels from 2010, I think)

 

I thinking about taking a leap and contacting the seller. I'd like to know if there is any affiliation.

 

Due to my history of working on and driving racecars, I am very familiar with heat cycled tires to assure that they are ready to go without a break in period.
I have never heard of a heat cycled "new" pressure plate as the one shown in the picture.
But what do I know?

 

Also, I wonder if Brembro pads are better than Brembos. Might look into that.

 

I though that was just from "sitting around". Fits the picture... omitting that the parts arent new..
