How did cribbj get banned? I can't think of a more important person and more important innovator for 456's and maranellos.

he was caught selling product on the down low (because he knew it was wrong) and also attacking Ricambi using our system (PM's) to users.

we're empathetic that although we have a full range of Sponsor options, there might not be one that works for everyone. That then doesn't allow you to break the rules. In this case he was working with Daniel on some things, but this product he was undercutting and encouraging not to use Ricambi. Now if they could work out the differences then it would be OK. So there were two issues here, both serious and admitted by John.

That's really too bad! Maranello skunkworks put out robust oem level product that increased the value of all our 456/maranellos. John is a great loss to our community. But "them's the rules. "

Part of what made Maranello Skunk Works great was the exclusivity of product. I am convinced and posted in the past, that a maranello with MSW goodies is going to be worth more at resale. Dave and John made a short run of rear bonnet openers like four and only ten 550 cruise controls and maybe a dozen switchable steering ECU's. They were far from being a viable profitable merchant and only responded to their own desire to make their personal maranellos better and demand from us. It was our demand that got John making COP conversions again. I was the one who pushed Dave into making the cruise control's for example. He made enough units as a hobbyist working in his home garage to break even on costs and never made another cruise control. There just is not a lot of profit there.

It sure would be nice if Fchat could find a way to support the ultra low volume seller. Maybe sales through an Fchat cart? Maybe after reaching some threshold of sales they have to become a real business and act accordingly on this site?

Let's say you have a broken knob but another forum member had the same problem and made a 3D printable file of the knob. There just isn't a way on Fchat to sell that file. How many of those knobs could be sold in a year? Maybe Fchat could come up with say a set sales price with some royalty payment per unit to the creators of such files and a bit for Fchat too?

I'm just spitballing here. I just hate to see good talent lost.

we paid to grow and manage this community. Ricambi paid for their business. he has every right to his business, users have every right to do business with them, he does not have the right to use our system for business especially attacking Ricambi.

Folks, don't over-think this. There's no smoke, and there's no fire.

The issue is simple, and I wish people would understand that Ricambi America is a for profit business. FerrariChat is a for profit business.

I am still working closely with John, and that won't change. Ricambi America sells the MSW steering ECU and the MSW sway bars. In fact today, John and I are finalizing the shipment of more sway bars which will be our third (or fourth?) batch of these. Both the ECU and bars remain very popular items in our catalog.

Sounds to me like they dont have any. Sounds to me like John is out for rule violation irrespective of his relationship with Danial as it should be.

somewhat true, Daniel isn't carrying all of John's products. John got in trouble for spamming those products against our rules. I would overlook the past rules violation if Daniel and John came to agreement to carry everything and not directly selling anything else.

if I were Daniel I would be pissed John was undercutting me while a title sponsor at FerrariChat and carrying his other products, but that is their business.

I can never trust John again, but that wouldn't be an issue if he wasn't selling anything outside Ricambi.

This is not nice to hear but just as with Fabio that won't prevent people from contacting him and benefit from all the good things he has to offer, thankfully.

I have had nothing but the best interactions with both parties and I do hope it’s just a bump in the road. I will say that I bought my MSW parts through Ricambi, and no one tried to convince me to do otherwise and I have zero regrets for doing so. I’m a businessmen and I know we all deserve our fair compensation.

Maybe I misunderstood. If it is banned as in permanent, I do think its excessive. At the same time protecting sponsors livelihoods is paramount.

Is there a way to allow someone in but turn off their specific ability to PM/Conversation?
I have no dog in the fight, just trying to think of ways to 'somewhat' solve part of it.
I know a User can turn off this option, I didn't know if an Admin could apply it to a User.

Did you guys notice the grease fitting on the bushing retainer? I don't use this bar and just noticed this from the picture. This is just John again going 10/10ths! Every oem uses rubber. Rubber is cheap, quiet, but de-rates the bar in unpredictable ways. A bar is a spring. It has a spring rate that add wheel rate to the suspension. John is using a harder bushing like maybe polyurethane so that the rate is the bar rate not bar rate minus who knows what because of mushy rubber bushing. But poly U can squeal so he added a grease fitting to control squeal and ensure passive rotation so the bar and 100% do bar things. This attention to detail is what makes MSW MSW.

I had the MSW rear torsion bar that purchased from Ricambi installed recently. I was hoping for an improvement to what felt like a “slushy” rear end. The improvement is dramatic. It’s like a different car. The kind of tight rear end I like. I highly recommend the upgrade.

On Google Earth area 51 used to have a flying saucer parked back behind one of the hangars. One of the space men was cleaning the windows and the other
was grilling some sausages and both were waving at the camera. They have been gone for years.

Thought today was fun….was getting some things at Safeway in Saratoga CA over the lunch hour and guy next to me in line was wearing a Ricambi hat!
    Asked him what he had….
    A 16M and two lambo’s!

I’m already a Ricambi customer but the hat advertising works!

That type of “grocery store camaraderie” was fun and I think of the positivity I’ve gotten from John and I hope things will work out so we can hear more of his future nuggets of wisdom here.

I think @rob lay was pretty clear. Its VERY hard to build and run a site like this. I (along with a partner) built, ran and *thankfully* sold MBWorld.org back in the day. The amount of time and thankless hours is enormous. Rob does this as a business, and like any business, there has to be rules and it has to be a high ROI platform for the sponsors.

While these cars and talking about them are a passion for us, there are people on the other side (like @Ricambi America and @rob lay) who feed their families and their employee's families in all or part from this "business" - it is always easy to forget that (and yes, they are just as passionate, but you get the point...). I know that when I was "in the biz" of forums and performance parts/shops - customers expected us to be there for the fun, not the business. Its a hard line to see sometimes.

I think its a testament to Rob that he has kept this site (most of us sold off) and kept it relevant and fun. I think we all need to support him and the mods.

Further, companies like Ricambi pay real money to be here, it is not fair for some to skirt the rules and evade that bill.
