Has Brian decreased his visits? I know a while back he was frustrated with some posters... What happened? Seems I don't see his input much.

I noticed the same thing I know how he feels I was about to call it a day as well it gets old when a lot of the activity is the " which way was the wind blowing when you bought your car " kind of stuff also I think he ends up responding to the same issues over and over must be frustrating.

I know exactly what has happened to Brian who has not posted since May 23d. HE IS GONE!! I have that on the very best authority there is.

We have all the dam* fools on here who can't seem to have a civil discussion with anyone other than themselves when they disagree to thank. The excellent expertise this gentleman imparted to those of us who come to learn is lost, at least for now.

Diversity of opinion is a good thing. and it is important to see that diversity when trying to make a considered decision on a technical issue. Keep driving the experts away with incivility and lack of respect and we might as well just have one big off-topic forum.

It is important to question. It is important to clarify. It is not important to ridicule.

Thanks much for raising the question.

You nailed it, Martin. Hearing is one thing. Listening is quite another.

I really enjoyed his postings and learned a lot from RD. He was quite the experienced fellow.
Hope he decides to simply ignore the random opinions unsubstantiated attacks here for what they are decides to come back.

I think many years of being married and being a parent helps me.

Well, I know one thing for sure - when I first came on here with the desire to buy a Testarossa and had mechanical issues with the first car, RifleDriver was on there posting good common sense through the whole fiasco. It resulted in me finally getting a far better car for less money.

He was right and I appreciated it. Maybe (from my experience with other forums) some people just need a break and maybe will take another look here from time to time.

    I hope so.

That's too bad. RD seemed to be a great guy with a lot knowledge that he was willing to share. I do have to say, there does seem to be a large increase of 20 y/o kids that know everything and want to argue over anything. God help ya if you discuss a performance car in the others section. It will instantly turn into a "my friend has a Supra or__________ which is faster" thread. Ya, it gets old.

May I suggest an E-mail (PMs won't work now) campaign by all the serious adult enthusiasts here to show our support. Perhaps that will turn his head.

I agree wholeheartedly, and I have greatly benefitted from his advice, suggestions and experience in the past.

Was hoping to have him do some work on my car as well :( Anyone have a business number for him?

I broke a half shaft three days prior to the start of the CALIF Mille, Fairmont in May. He got Tom S to FedEx up some axles, found one that fit, and I made it to the rally (non-refundable $5k). Brian is 'da man'. The Oldest Ferrari to Finish the Cal Mille, 100% thanks to Brian Crall and Team in San Ramon.

His brother is still here.....down Florida way......

It's going to be hard to convince a top technician his time is wisely spent arguing on the Internet......;)

He joins a long list, I'm afraid.....

Yea, it is a bummer. I've found that if someone gets too wound up on here it's usually their own doing. No one forces you to get in a scuffle and it's usually because they have to be right.(not saying that was the case here) It's unfortunate to lose someone with that kind of knowledge.

I have not met Brian, but he offered help to me a few of times. I think that he respects those of us who attempt to work on our own cars and wishes us the best because he doesn't have the time or space to work on our cars for us. I think that he became frustrated by novices challenging his credentials and "professionals" stealing his knowledge for profit. I cannot speak for Brian, but I think his attitude was that if we have some basic automotive mechanical skills and a shop manual, we should be able to handle any procedure without consultation. I think he may have tired of the many threads asking straight procedural questions (answered fully in the manual) and even worse, someone disagreeing with his sound advice. Someone like Brian has spent years gaining knowledge in his profession and that has value on the open market. Like any other profession on this forum, the professional may choose to offer advice for free, but not doing so should not subject him to harrassment. Brian has much to offer our members, so I hope he will return and simply ignore the small number of fools who don't realize the value of his commentary.

I have had to ask Brian to save my butt a dozen times prior to a major events over the last several years (CI, Challenge Race, Mille).

He's worked on all my Ferraris (4) ranging from the 1951 212 Inter to a 2006 F430 Spyder still under warranty. (Yup, rather pay Brian, then have the dealer touch my car).

I'm also fed-up with F-Chat posting. 90% Great People, but the 10% Wannabe-Sh1theads kill the joy.
