Hi! I am curious about what would happen if i got stopped for going in the 150 range in the rockies. I only have my learners permit, and I was wondering what would happen. Would my permit would be yanked, or would I get arrested, or maybe just get a HUGE fine?? Thanks for the help! Rick
Okay, maybe I'm late to dance here but how the hell do you have a Gallardo, BMW, and MB and all you have is a learner's permit? Something's not right here. And if this is a serious question, you can bet that you will probably be unable to get a license until at least 18 years old. The state is very hard on real speeding and with someone under 18, let alone 15, you're going to get the book - all of the books, actually - thrown at you.
You'd get the book thrown at you. Honestly, what did you think would happen? That's true of any state not just CO.
Your car would likely be towed, and you'd lose the permit. I was pulled over for 76 in a 35 on Speer, and I received 26 points on my license. They told me if circumstances had been different, my car would've been towed (they couldn't spend the time waiting for the tow truck). Later I plea-bargained down to five points, and kept my license, which, at seventeen, had only six points. When I turned 18, I got two more points to play with, although to date that's my only ticket.
If you're going 150 mph in the rockies with a learner's permit, chances are the first thing to stop you would be a tree.
Haha - I believe it was 12 points for being 40mph over the speed limit, another 10 for reckless driving, and then 4 for excessive speed. When I went to court, my lawyer argued that some of that was indeed double jeopardy, like charging me for speeding both in the state and the city. They conceded some of that, plea bargained the rest, and by some miracle of God I got to keep my license.
The bigger question would be what idiot would get in a car with a learner and allow him/her to even approach 100mph? I smell a troll. DAve
Bad question to ask IMHO. Far too many young folks lost to this type of thing. First rule in teaching Racing at the track, learn and perfect technique at low speeds then apply speed. Everyone living here knows it is a roll of the dice as to what is going to jump out on the road in front of you. There are skills to learn first, then apply that knowledge wisely. Dave
Geez Dave, that looks like a Novitec 360 Spider...I've never seen that Ferrari around here before, was the picture taken in Colorado? That's a pretty neat photo nonetheless
i think you would be taken to jail for reckless driving. but other than that ive heard they are pretty lax on thier pollicies concering permits. i mean 150 is one thing but i had a friend that got pulled over driving by himself when he had his permit for going 10 over and all the did was take 2 points off of his license when he got it. they didnt even make him wait till he was 18 to get it. -Thomas
Sounds like I'd better watch myself with what kind of trouble it sounds like I could get myself into!
B.C. with Zahirs tour. As if a 360 isnt fast enough, hang a pair of hair dryers on it and goes like all get out. One day I would like to go back and travel those roads at a pace where I can enjoy the views. Simply stunning! Fortunately I saw the bear before it jumped the guard rail and was able to radio to the cars behind us. Dave
I think he has the cars listed (owned by his dad). I think someone mentioned meeting him at a recent car show with his dad in a yellow Lambo. BT
The same thing that happens to anyone who disregards their own safety as well as the safety of the public. With a nice hot car, you will probably be dead before the cops can catch you. Just don't take any innocent people with you...
You are right. They are owned by my father. I still take care of them like they are my own. I have put 900 miles on the Lambo. My father has put 100 miles on it. Same story with the M3 and others.
I am as safe as can possibly be: I dont pass on a double yellow, don't speed around blind corners (at least too much anyway), etc. The only place I would go around 150 would be a nice straight road. I recently got the Lambo up to 127 and had no problems because I thought before I acted, unlike soo many people in the world. It was on a nice straight road with plenty of visiblility around and no other traffic. Don't have a bad impression with me, I don't drive like a "wild teenager." I think before I do crazy things like going 127 in a 45. I try to plan an "escape route" if something should go wrong: like another car is oncoming in the other lane of the road, then I will slow way down and drive normally until the are past then I get back to having fun.
"I think before I do crazy things like going 127 in a 45" Reread your statement and attempt an explination. Better yet, just let this thread die and accept that the question shouldnt have been asked in the first place. Dave
I honestly thought this was a joke when you asked it. You can convince yourself you're not a "wild teenager" but all that makes this question is a premeditated act of idiocy instead of a spontaneous one.
