I have applied this product on five of my cars over time and recommended it to several friends that have done the same "over the past two years". It has occurred to me what happens as it wears off. Does it just fade like car wax or heaven forbid it get splotchy with dull spots that won't recover?

I have been using 22ple over the past couple of years and the coating will slowly lose its efficacy and need to be reapplied. Same as normal wax/sealant. You will have to compound/polish the entire vehicle to remove any remnants as well as defects, IPA wipedown, then re-apply as normal. I highly recommend the new 22ple HPC with longevity up to 3 years!

You won't even realize it has come off. It usually last for about a year. It will get splotchy if you don't wipe all the residue off and it dries on there. I learned that the first time I used it and had to polish back out a panel to get the haze off. It sure does make the car sparkle and look wet.

+1! I had a terrible experience with it on my 458 and it too became splotchy and ghosted in many spots over the car. it cost a fair amount to have professionally applied and could not have gone worse.

I think a clear bra or film is a much better investment vs a coating IMO.

clear bra and coatings serve different purposes.

    clear bra prevents impact damage
coatings protect environmental and wash induced marring/scratch protection

neither are bullet proof, however both offer much better protection vs traditional waxes which degrade relatively fast.

With that said, you will not see the coating flake off, chip away, look different from one panel to the next, get blotchy, etc. you will notice dirt doesnt wash as easily, its scratches more easily, and water doesnt sheet off as effectively. At this time, its time to repolish and recoat the car to get it protected once again
