What have you done to your Ferrari Today?

Fyi, the Fram PH28041 is not the same as previous PH2804-1. PH28041 does not have a bypass valve. So, if filter clogs up, no oil goes to engine. Baldwin B253 is better option. Has standpipe and bypass valve. High burst pressure.

Removed leaves and dead insects from the front of my condenser on my '87 328.

By the way I once used a Fram oil filter in my 328. Noticed my oil pressure was reading lower than usual after several weeks of driving. Removed the filter and replaced it with a Baldwin. Oil pressure went back to normal. Cut the Fram open. The internals had collapsed. My advice is DO NOT USE FRAM OIL FILTERS.

Why do you have the Thermo Expansion valve covered with duct tape?

 

When I was charging the system I covered it to insulate it and keep it from frosting.

How many times has it gone around the odometer?

 

Zero times. I have all the original dealer invoices ans second owner invoices, pre-purchase inspection, with mileage indicated. It was purchased by second owner at 13.5k miles, stored in a commercial bldg for 34 years and only driven 2700 miles. I bought it 12/2017 and got it to Platinum Award in 2018.

I agree, the Baldwin B253 does appear to be a good filter.
Interestingly, neither does the UFI 23116202 have a pressure relief valve (according to UFI), that appears to be the most commonly cross referenced filter for a 3x8 here in the UK.

 

Fabricated and replaced the missing heat shield under the alternator. Replaced the XDI unit, as well as the power feed to the coils (now running from the battery +12V post, instead of the starter.)

Trying to not feel too optimistic, but so far the car isn't dying every 2 minutes now. So fingers crossed.

 

Changed the filter, copper washer, and engine oil. While doing my inspection on my lift, I noticed dried coolant. Checked the lower weep hole and it is wet. Bummer
This why I inspect all around the engine compartment each oil change.
Time to remove and get rebuilt.

Working on timing belts, of all things, one of the studs that holds the front tensioner was borked when I took it apart. Annoying, because instead of being done, I'm waiting on parts.
