New tires and center caps. I bought the center caps years ago knowing I'd need them some day. They are an exact match to the OE. Tires from Tire Rack. I can not recommend too highly their mobile installers. I've used them twice. They take pictures of all the wheels before and after mounting. Very careful. They ask questions about lifting the car. Mount and balance for $160, at you home. Their machines don't grip the wheels with spikes so no paint damage to the inner side of the rims. Even asked how I wanted the wheel caps positioned. No sitting waiting at a shop for your turn and you can be right there with them. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Finally got around to installing the SRI fuel hose set on my 89. The old hoses had date codes of 1988 on them. They had zero dry rot or cracks in them even when cut open and stretched open. Surprising they looked that good. Either way I’m glad to have them updated. Job took around 4 hours with clean up and checking for leaks.
Replaced the ancillary belts as the AC broke on a rally and threw off the alternator belt . I suspect the York AC pump got very hot , after 8 hrs running and melted its belt ? Or it wasn’t tensioned enough and started to slip ? Last done 2021 . In future I need to check the tension annually . Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login I opened the lub nut and oil / gas hissed out - that’s the green stain = seems to hold pressure . Tricky part is the AC belt .You have to remove the lower bracket + tensioner .The AC studs I double nutted and unscrewed them to get the bracket off .Then you have to manoeuvre the new belt in .It’s too tight as is .So you have to loosen off the top three bolts on the upper bracket ( no pic s sorry ) , this drops the pump enough so you can slip the belt on the clutch . You have to do the clutch end last after the other end because at the other end the crank , it fits on the inner of the two pulleys. So you put the crank end first then second the clutch = Argh !!! Once on tighten up the upper bracket loosely and while there’s still a little movement re fit the lower bracket refitting ( double nutting ) the pump studs .Once they are home button up both brackets . Refit the tensioner and get is as tight by hand as you can .Various threads on belt tension on here I read them all The alternator/ water pump is a doddle in comparison, just a regular alternator belt procedure I used a pry bar to tIghten . Both bolts are a bit tricky but none the less do able. Various test runs and checking for interference etc all seems ok .Thankfully the AC clutch isn’t fried and it blows cold in the cabin . I regassed the system in April using a generic r134 rattle can kit as it had leaked ( or I suspected) a little out over the winter . Then added a bit more the day before the rally .Suspect i over pressured it and strained the pump ? The friction heat transferred to the clutch pulley which intern melted the belt . Bits of shredded AC belt then got caught up the alternator belt .It didn’t snap just jumped off and the generator light appeared on the dash . Was thinking if the AC pump or clutch was knackered I would replace with this . https://gtcp.com/product/115776rrk-a-c-compressor-retrofit-kit-with-brackets/. $1200 + @$150 to ship to the U.K. But the system seems to hold pressure and work pretty ok .It was my bad over filling it and running it for 8 hrs solid. The black rubber pipes were replaced by the PO so are r134 compatible. All I would say the belts are pretty expensive compared to regular belts .Approx £65 each inc tax from Superperformance. I wish there was a aftermarket, modern flat ribbed ,poly belt conversation kit , pulleys etc like modern cars available . The OEM V belts feels tiny and delicate .
Took my 308 to a C&C on Saturday. It was about a 40min drive each way on the highway. The car ran like a top. This is the longest outing I have had it on and am very pleased. I have the idle set to low and even though it ran good it does have a flat spot. I am sure this winter I will have to rebuild the carburetors. But for now I will just enjoy the car.
Starting to put stuff back on finally have the front arms ready to go and end link. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Replacing clutch, throttle, and e-brake cables as preventative maintenance since my seats and center console are out. Also did the differential seals.
In the last few days I did the timing belts and tensionner bearings. Also oil change and filter and new Redline NS transmission oil. All that for the new owner. Monday I should bring the car to TFX in Toronto to get it delivered to the new owner in Wasnington state. From east to west coast. I will sure miss her.
Installed *********** carplay retrofit kit, working well. The installation was done by a professional and took less than 3hrs. After installation, apple carplay worked as described. I love it. It brings the car back to a young car again. This is my post: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/2019-portofino-carplay-retrofit.695035/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
Too busy/lazy. Car is currently in the carport out front, I walk past it every day lol Will try and start it and drive it more often. I haven't driven it since last November. Working 7 days a week these days, no time for anything but work and sleep.
Worked on an ongoing intermittent issue that I have been having with my 1980 GTSi that included testing all my new CSI injectors opening pressure and spray pattern. Replaced what I thought was the faulty injector/cylinder. Ensured that the plug was actually firing. Now I just need to drive it and hopefully it won’t fail again. Got to drive it properly for the first time this year...been shuttling between body shop, mechanic and auto electrics. Part of the problem was a faulty battery installed by local shop. Enjoyed a nice 130km round trip even though it was only on the boring highway.
Got to use my slick new A/C fitting crimp tool. Worked great. Also got my fuel pump/Accumulator installed and cleaned up the hardware / mounts /lines / wiring. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Make sure you check both sides of that crimp. I had the same (or very similar) tool and I had to crimp it once, then rotate 180 degrees and crimp it again since it didn't seem to do it equally
Went to adjust the clutch that I repaired 4 years ago but began to become a little loose Image Unavailable, Please Login
Finished up the rear and front suspension. Starting to put the brakes back on and then I can drive this thing. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Disconnected the radio that a PO installed since I've only used it at best twice since I bought the car. In theory, it eliminates parasitic draw on the battery. Now I find I don't have any turn signals today. Guess I'm plugging it back in tonight [emoji849] Sent from my SM-S918U using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I fixed my gas tank fuel sender. The gauge always measured empty. After verifying all the electrical components were working, I discovered the float was a sinker. The brass float developed a leak. It turns out this part on Amazon is a direct, drop-in replacement. It works fine now. Image Unavailable, Please Login

I plan to replace the throttle cable today...but, I also backed my DD out from under it. Stuck on the lift for the foreseeable future as well due to crappy weather! Last week I took it to the body shop for rust repair, I love my car!
