I took it out on a nice drive this morning. The more I drive it the better it runs. The oil pressure gage is almost always working now and third gear is much smother, although I am going to change the gear oil. I was trying to drive slow on the twisty road but I found a new problem. For some unknown reason my right foot gets stuck pushed all the way to the floor.
I noticed that you don’t feel the weight of this car at all. Most cars heavier than the Exige I can feel in the corners, not the 308.
And what a wonderful noise it makes!
It was dirty so on the way home I took it to the car wash. You would think those big spinning brushes would clean the car well but I guess the car is too low. They missed some spots so I ran it through a few more times.

Ok I didn’t do that I brought it home and gave it a bath with the softest microfiber cloth I have. :D

I removed the previous rust by soaking the parts in Evaporust.

After that I used a bench grinder with the wire wheel attachment and got whatever remained.

Then I polished them as best I could on the polishing side.

After that I plated them all with a zinc / yellow chromate plating.

Got a nice gift box from Superformance today, so while I missed Christmas in July, Christmas in August is just as good in my book. :p Nothing major, seems like this weekend's theme is rubber replacement, including all the targa top's rubber bits, the 15' long molding that surrounds the doors and traverses the back of the cockpit, the forward molding under the bonnet, the top-side foam for the radiator, and finally the clutch and brake pedal rubbers. Yee-Haw!

It is a beautiful color :) When I bought mine 20+ years ago I was thinking a blue car that needs paint is a red car.....but its still blue and I no longer have any thoughts of changing it when its paint day finally arrives.

I drained the transaxle today. I ran out of time so I will fill it tomorrow and do an oil change also. I was able to get to everything without lifting the car. There was a good bit of very fine metal shavings, about tike sand, on both plugs. I checked the records that came with the car, it’s been 26 years since it was last changed.

Had a day off today and felt like eating the traditional dish of the peasants in our part of France close to the german border: potatoes roasted in butter, cottage cheese, and ham: very simple, but tricky to master.
Took the GTS to the middle of nowhere (@Nicolas21 should know where it is nevertheless, he is local to me).
Lunch was excellent, the car was in great shape, and the "locals" couldn't care less about Ferraris...

    Flammekueche in Moselle and Bas-Rhin,
but Flammenküchen in Haut-Rhin or Germany
But let's do it simple: in Alsatian slang, the quickest is: "flomess" or "flams".

    Pronouced:
    in Strasbourg "Flomeukeucheu"
    in Haguenau "Flomekeureu"
in Haut-Rhin or Germany "Flammenkoueureun", etc..

We have them too in Moselle; and we have Bibeleskaes, as in Alsace, were it is pronounced "Pibalaskas"...

On a Friday 13th? Ah, I forgot: Friday 13th doesn't work in Italy, so Italian cars are not concerned!
It's Friday 17th in Italy, as "17" is "XVII" in roman numerals, anagram of "VIXI", the latin word for "I have lived" (in the sense of: now it is my end) .

Wish you a very long and happy ownership.

I have an 85 QV with about 70k miles on it. Recently I lost the rear bank of cylinders while driving. Full disclosure, I'm not much of a diagnostician. Anyway, I replaced the coils, coil wires, wires, extenders, dist. rotors and dist. carbon button. Fixed it. It now runs better than it ever has! Since I drove several miles on 4 cylinders, my oil had a little gas smell to it so I changed the oil too. I've had the car for about 5 years. I've always thought it ran pretty good (no baseline) until now. This is the best it has ever run. Its amazing.

Now I've got to get the passenger side door to shut reliably!
