My electric woes traced to a bad alternator. Lasted 30+ years! No rebuilt units in stock locally so I had it rebuilt locally$125 out the door and still has the original Bosch stickers.

Now I have 14.4v between the posts at 1000 rpm.

Coolant bleeding has commenced and I'm not getting a ton of air after my first bleed.

New upholstery finished in my 328 - seats, doors, console, emergency brake. The work was done by Dave Gallagher of Phoenix Upholstery, Vancouver, BC. Dave does the upholstery work for world class RX Autoworks where his business is co-located. A true craftsman and enthusiast. Jon

I have the clutch out and while I 'm in there I am replacing the bearings too. An ongoing problem is leaking oil from all points. I puilled off the trans pan to put in a new gasket and Strat-O-Seal washers and out dropped the springs and balls that are up in the mid casting. I have been searching for a cross section or a tutorial on replacing those gaskets but haven't found it yet.

Replaced driver's side CV joint boot (cleaned/inspected/repacked joint), new oil cooler lines, and pulled out all the interior fabric trim parts for re-covering. Took awhile to get the old fabric off and now the search for the unobtanium black-stripe fabric begins.

Fixed my driver power window. Electric motor was seized. Cleaned and lubed good as new. Took it for a spin through magnolia and got caught in the rain. Gts does a great job keeping rain off the driver even at low speeds

Tucked under a gas station and had a cigar.

Crawled under the car to check out a suspension squeak. all bushings & shocks were replaced 7 years ago :(
Looks like the shock bushings. {sigh}I'm not sure if this can wait until winter.
May have to pick up a HF shop press a la Birdman.

I re-re-re-re-re-re-re-fixed my exhaust rattles. I think I may have fixed them for good this time (... he says naively...). I squished the ends of the heat shields down with hose clamps.

The rubber weather stripping above the windshield was very worn and I decided to replace it. Bought for under $200 on fleabay and did it myself...an easy DIY for a mechanical klutz such as myself. It turned out great and makes for a much cleaner look when riding without the targa top (which is most of the time.)

Jacked her up to r&r the diaper. A little banging a little sanding a can of primer and a can of BBQ paint and it should look good as new right?

i had mine sand blasted and powder coated. It should hold up to the heat better and longer. I tried your method and the paint still peeled.

Did a bit or searching. I think I'm going to try header paint. Sounds better than BBQ paint.

Trying to keep the costs down so blast and powder coat is off the table for now.

Replaced the rear outer cam bearing and seal. Odd the PO or mechanic had pushed the seal in past the inner lip which caused the outer bearing to leak. The whole job took just over 4 hrs. Very easy by most standards. The hardest part was trying to retrieve the seal which was on the inner side of the seal lip.

Removed the diaper from my 1980 GTSi and had it powder coated flat black wrinkle. The best $150 I ever spent on the car. The part came out looking beautiful. The small imperfections in the metal were made invisible because of the wrinkle. The coating will add protection to a surface that is otherwise easily scratched or rock pelted.

That looks great! I suspect with that application/finish you'll be set for a long time.

Ok not technically today but tomorrow...
I'm off to Silverstone for a packed weekend of Ferrari Racing Days.
Joining a 650 car track parade tomorrow afternoon. This will be the first time I've done something like this as an owner (spectated at several similar things) so it promises to be very special indeed.
Looking forward to seeing the inaugural run of the 'famous' F40LM restoration that's been keeping many glued to fcthat and club scud.
Plus - I'm in a nice hotel near the track with a few like minded pals, which means a few beers sat night.
    What's not to like? :)

I fitted a Tubi on my 328 today. 2 hours work, the old stock exhaust bolted right of and the Tubi fitted like a glove. After an hour driving I am a happy man. This is how it should sound like from the start. I drove my 328 for three years with the stock exhaust, it's like I have rediscovered my car...

Removed the throttle cable. Cleaned and re lubed it. Cable was like new. White grease was still on the pedal clamp. The internal capilitary tube was making its way out which caused some friction. Pushed it back inside the coiled spring housing tube. Works very smooth now. Simple job. You can clean and re lube the cable end to end. Peace of mind now.

I will check the clutch cable whilst I pull the clutch later this fall.

Haven't driven the 308 for 2 months - I have been travelling a lot and have only spent 3 weekends at home in that time. She was stored uncovered in the garage and very dusty - so yesterday morning I gave her a good wash and then went for a great drive.

The sports exhaust I fitted a few months ago was burbling on the overruns, and she performed so well. I forget what a small, nimble car she is especially compared to the 360. It was like putting on your favourite pair of shoes after not wearing them for a while.

As I wasn't using her enough I had been considering selling her - but I have shelved those ideas for the moment!

Went out in her again this morning to visit a fellow Ferrarista who has a 166 Barchetta (s/n 0056M). Stunning - especially when parked next to his Bugatti Type 37.

The prior owner of my 308 did the same thing with spray on paint, consequently, the diaper was rusted and the paint was pealing. This was actually the first project that I did, performed the same service as described here already, sand blasted then powder coated. Still looks great after six years on!

I painted with VHT Flame Proof for headers. 2 cans, $20 and it looks good. We'll see how that lasts.
