The three 'external' trim channels (one central and two side pieces) at the base of the rear window.

Mine are quite sticky and I was thinking it may be easier to deal with them if the trim can be removed, rather than in place.

How did you turn the die to chase that thread...i do not see any bars either side to aid in rotating the die as it cut the threads..

Did you just turn it with your fingers?

Yep just fingers to chase it out a bit. I also bought brand new stainless nuts. (make sue you have a big blanket in the engine bay to catch falling tools and nuts when undoing/redoing them up).

To remove the black sticky I uses sticky stuff remover from Halfords plus Virosol (off ebay) with a soft nail brush then Halfords black bumper/plastic paint to paint it - no primer required.

Theres details on my 348 Restoration on CS but its down at moment! :-(

Thank you. I was just looking at mine the other day and thinking that I wanted to redo them. You made my job a whole lot easier. I have read all of your stuff on Club Scuderia also. When I grow up I wanna be you.

    Thank you for everything.

Just a little word of caution - I had quite a time removing mine - although its only 12 nuts they were very awkward to remove - there's a lot of working blind and you have to get inventive with spanners so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to do it and are in a good mood LOL

BTW I dont want to put anyone off but don't expect to have them off in 5 mins. Well worth doing though! :)

Thanks Jeff that is great info on restoring those pieces. One more thing to put on the list of things to do for the 348 this winter.

    No worries your welcome :)

Just as an aside I did my front windscreen demist vents at same time so may be worth doing them too. Heres the ink to them
