I remember seeing the 712 running in the Can-Am back in the day. I have some pictures of it buried in boxes somewhere when it ran at Donnybrook. I remember it sounding much different that the big Chevys that most of the other cars had. I still have a spark plug from one of the McLarens from that race. Thanks for the picture!

I was always kind of sad that Ferrari never got serious about Can Am - like for example Porsche did. But then, the pundits say that Porsche & Donahue pretty much killed Can Am.

So, we can safely say that this represented the biggest displacement Ferrari 12 ever made?

And was just the one car, with maybe some spares?

CanAm was the last real "run whatcha brung" racing. The rules were liberal and the sky was the limit.

Speeds were scary fast. There were always new innovations.

Now, it's all about the rules. Some races have actual speed limits, WTF?

All the cars (in whatever class) look the same.

I can't get excited about any of it.
